Music\/Def Jam Recordings &#8212;\u00a0earned 208,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 7, according to Nielsen Music, and is\u00a0the fifth-largest week for an album in 2018. Of\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u2019s starting sum, 85,000 were in traditional album sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0June 16-dated chart (where West debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on\u00a0Tuesday, June 12.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s review some of the notable statistics associated with\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u2019s No. 1 arrival:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kanye West\u2019s Eighth No. 1 Album:<\/strong>\u00a0West lands his eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>. He ties\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/eminem\">Eminem<\/a>\u00a0for the second-most No. 1 albums among hip-hop acts in the history of the chart. Only\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/jay-z\">JAY-Z<\/a>\u00a0is ahead of them, as he owns 14 chart-toppers. (Among\u00a0<em>all acts<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/the-beatles\">The Beatles<\/a>\u00a0have the most No. 1s, with 19.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Record-Tying<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Eight No. 1s\u00a0<\/strong><strong>i<\/strong><strong>n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0a Row:<\/strong>\u00a0West has earned\u00a0all eight of\u00a0his No. 1s\u00a0consecutively. Every single one of West\u2019s chart entries, starting with his second album, 2005\u2019s\u00a0<em>Late Registration<\/em>, have debuted at No. 1. (West\u00a0missed the top\u00a0only\u00a0with his No. 2-peaking debut, 2004\u2019s\u00a0<em>The College Dropout<\/em>.) He matches Eminem\u00a0(2000-2018, a still-active streak)\u00a0and The Beatles\u00a0(1965-68)\u00a0as the only acts to tally eight straight No. 1 albums. Eminem also matches West in terms of eight consecutive No. 1\u00a0<em>debuts<\/em>. (The Beatles\u2019 stretch of eight No. 1s in a row in the\u00a0&#8217;60s\u00a0did not include any titles that debuted at No. 1.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fifth<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>B<\/strong><strong>iggest Week of 2018:<\/strong>\u00a0As\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u00a0starts with 208,000 equivalent album units, it logs the fifth-biggest week for an album this year. The only larger frames were earned by the debut weeks of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/post-malone\">Post Malone<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>beerbongs &amp; bentleys<\/em>\u00a0(461,000),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/j-cole\">J. Cole<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>KOD<\/em>\u00a0(397,000),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/justin-timberlake\">Justin Timberlake<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Man of the Woods<\/em>\u00a0(293,000) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/cardi-b\">Cardi B<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Invasion of Privacy\u00a0<\/em>(255,000 units).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seventh<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>L<\/strong><strong>argest Streaming Debut Week<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Ever<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Of\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u2019s first week units, 120,000 were SEA units. That sum equates to 180.1 million on-demand audio streams for the set\u2019s seven songs during the tracking week (as each SEA units equals 1,500 on-demand audio streams).\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u2019s streaming launch is the seventh-biggest debut streaming week for an album. That\u2019s a pretty notable feat, considering\u00a0<em>Ye<\/em>\u00a0only has seven songs. Thus, each tune, on average, garnered 25.7 million on-demand audio streams. The only album to tally a larger per-track streaming average was J. Cole\u2019s\u00a0<em>KOD\u00a0<\/em>earlier this year. During its opening frame, the 12-song album earned 322.7 million on-demand audio streams, resulting in a 26.9 million per-track average.<\/p>\n<p>At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Post Malone\u2019s former No. 1,\u00a0<em>beerbongs &amp; bentleys<\/em>, is a non-mover with 99,000 units (down 5 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Coming in at No. 3 is rock band\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ghost\">Ghost<\/a>\u00a0with its highest-charting album, and third top 10,\u00a0<em>Prequelle<\/em>. The set launches with 66,000 units, of which 61,000 were in traditional album sales \u2014 the act\u2019s best sales week ever. (The album\u2019s first week benefits from a concert ticket\/album sale redemption offer in association with the band\u2019s spring U.S. theater tour, as well as a pair of arena dates later this year.)<\/p>\n<p>Ghost previously visited the top 10 with a pair of No. 6-peaking efforts:\u00a0<em>Popestar<\/em>\u00a0(EP) in 2016 and\u00a0<em>Meliora<\/em>\u00a0in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Country singer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/luke-combs\">Luke Combs<\/a>\u00a0nabs a new chart high with his\u00a0<em>This One\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><em>f<\/em><em>or You<\/em>\u00a0album, as the set zooms from No. 39 to No. 4, thanks to a deluxe reissue of the album on June 1. The set,\u00a0bolstered by five new songs,\u00a0garnered 55,000 units (up 314 percent). The album blows past its previous best week, logged when it bowed at\u00a0No.\u00a05\u00a0with 43,000 units on the June 24, 2017-dated tally.<\/p>\n<p>Cardi B\u2019s\u00a0<em>Invasion of Privacy<\/em>\u00a0is steady at No. 5 on the new Billboard 200 (49,000 units; up 3 percent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/juice-wrld\">Juice WRLD<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Goodbye &amp; Good Riddance\u00a0<\/em>continues to climb, as it rises 8-6 (42,000 units; though down 3 percent), and\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman<\/em>\u00a0soundtrack ascends 9-7 (just under 42,000 units; down 3 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/shawn-mendes\">Shawn Mendes<\/a>\u2019 self-titled album falls from No. 1 to No. 8 in its second week (39,000 units; down 78 percent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lil-baby\">Lil Baby<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Harder Than Ever<\/em>\u00a0slips 7-9 (37,000 units; down 18 percent) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/jason-aldean\">Jason Aldean<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Rearview Town<\/em>\u00a0vaults 27-10 (34,000 units; up 117 percent).
