Panic previously hit the top of the list with its last studio effort,\u00a0<em>Death of a Bachelor<\/em>, which opened at No. 1 in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray for the Wicked<\/em>\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0which was released on June 22 via DCD2\/Fueled by Ramen &#8212;\u00a0launches with 180,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 28, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 151,000 were in traditional album sales. Both figures represent the biggest week for an alternative rock album in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0July 7-dated chart (where Panic! at the Disco\u00a0debuts\u00a0at No. 1) will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on\u00a0Tuesday, July 2.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray for the Wicked<\/em>\u2019s start in both total units and traditional album sales marks the largest week for an alternative rock album since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/u2\">U2<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Songs of Experience<\/em>\u00a0debuted at No. 1 on the Dec. 23, 2017-dated chart with 186,000 units (180,000 in album sales).\u00a0<em>Pray<\/em>\u2019s handsome sales were encouraged by a pre-order campaign for the album via the act\u2019s official merch store, where pre-orders made by June 21 included early access to purchase tickets to the act\u2019s tour.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray<\/em>\u00a0also garners a robust start in terms of vinyl album sales, bowing with 26,000 copies sold. That\u2019s the fifth-largest week for a vinyl effort in Nielsen Music history, which dates back to when the company began tracking sales in 1991. (The largest week for a vinyl set belongs to Jack White\u2019s\u00a0<em>Lazaretto<\/em>\u00a0with 40,000 sold in its debut frame in the week ending June 15, 2014.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray<\/em>\u00a0was led by the single \u201cSay Amen (Saturday Night),\u201d which became Panic\u2019s first No. 1 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart after 11 previous entries. \u201cSay Amen\u201d ascended to the top of the list dated June 30.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/xxxtentacion\">XXXTentacion<\/a>\u2019s former No. 1,\u00a0<em>?<\/em>, continues to move back up the Billboard 200 following the rapper\/singer\u2019s death on June 18. The set rises 3-2 with 86,000 units (though down 9 percent). XXXTentacion\u2019s\u00a0<em>17<\/em>\u00a0also climbs, rising 7-5 with 45,000 units (down 18 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/post-malone\">Post Malone<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>beerbongs &amp; bentleys<\/em>\u00a0moves 4-3 with 75,000 units (down 10 percent) while The Carters\u2019\u00a0<em>Everything Is Love<\/em>\u00a0dips 2-4 with 59,000 units (down 52 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Country duo\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/dan-shay\">Dan + Shay<\/a>\u00a0collect its third top 10 effort, as its self-titled third studio set debuts at No. 6 with 44,000 units (24,000 in traditional album sales). The act previously visited the top 10 with its first two albums:\u00a0<em>Obsessed<\/em>\u00a0(No. 8 in 2016) and\u00a0<em>Where It All Began<\/em>\u00a0(No. 6, 2014).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/juice-wrld\">Juice WRLD<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Goodbye &amp; Good Riddance<\/em>\u00a0steps 8-7 with 44,000 units (up 2 percent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/cardi-b\">Cardi B<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Invasion of Privacy<\/em>\u00a0shifts 9-8 with 43,000 units (down less than 1 percent) and the soundtrack to\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman<\/em>\u00a0returns to the top 10 after one week away from the region, as it climbs 12-9 with 33,000 units (down 7 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Closing out the top 10 is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/5-seconds-of-summer\">5 Seconds of Summer<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Youngblood<\/em>, which falls from No. 1 to No. 10 in its second week (30,000 units; down 79 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Source: billboard.com<\/p>\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-1048\" data-postid=\"1048\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-1048 themify_builder themify_builder_front\">\r\n\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<!-- \/themify_builder_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cPray\u201d logs biggest week for an alternative rock album in 2018.
