The set, which was released via Sugar\/Decca Records on Oct. 26, earned 126,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 123,000 were in album sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Nov. 10-dated chart &#8211;where\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0starts at No. 1 &#8212;\u00a0will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on\u00a0Tuesday, Nov. 6.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrea Bocelli\u2019s First No. 1:\u00a0<\/strong>The 26th time\u2019s the charm, as Bocelli bows atop the Billboard 200 with his 26th charting album,\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>. The singer has charted on the tally since Dec. 20, 1997, when\u00a0<em>Romanza<\/em>\u00a0debuted at No. 114, on its way to a No. 35 peak on Dec. 19, 1998. All told,\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0marks Bocelli\u2019s ninth top 10 effort.<\/p>\n<p>Bocelli has come quite close to No. 1 previously: he\u2019s peaked at No. 2 twice, with\u00a0<em>My Christmas<\/em>\u00a0(five weeks at No. 2 in 2009) and\u00a0<em>Passione<\/em>\u00a0(one week at No. 2 in 2013). The former spent five consecutive weeks stuck in the runner-up slot. In its first two weeks at No. 2,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/bon-jovi\">Bon Jovi<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Circle<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/john-mayer\">John Mayer<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Battle Studies<\/em>\u00a0debuted at No. 1, respectively. Then, in\u00a0<em>My Christmas<\/em>\u2019 third week at No. 2,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/susan-boyle\">Susan Boyle<\/a>\u2019s debut album\u00a0<em>I Dreamed a Dream<\/em>\u00a0bowed at No. 1\u00a0and spent six straight weeks at No. 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20-Year Wait for First No. 1 Album:<\/strong>\u00a0Bocelli waited a little more than 20 years and 10 months for his first No. 1, dating back to when\u00a0<em>Romanza<\/em>\u00a0bowed on the list dated Dec. 20, 1997. That\u2019s the longest wait for a chart-topper since January of 2016, when the late\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/david-bowie\">David Bowie<\/a>\u00a0tallied his first leader 43 years and nine months after his chart debut. He hit No. 1 with\u00a0<em>Blackstar<\/em>\u00a0on the Jan. 30, 2016-dated chart, and he made his chart debut on the tally way back on April 15, 1972 with\u00a0<em>Hunky Dory<\/em>. (Bowie died of cancer on Jan. 10, 2016, two days after\u00a0<em>Blackstar<\/em>\u00a0was released.) Before Bocelli, the last living artist to wait longer for their first No. 1 was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/james-taylor\">James Taylor<\/a>, who notched his first leader with\u00a0<em>Before This World<\/em>\u00a0on July 4, 2015 &#8212;\u00a045 years after his chart debut on March 14, 1970 with\u00a0<em>Sweet Baby James<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bocelli\u2019s Largest Sales Week Since 2009:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0sold 123,000 copies (of its 126,000 total units), marking the singer\u2019s best sales week since\u00a0<em>My Christmas<\/em>\u00a0sold 284,000 copies over the Christmas week of 2009 (reflected on the chart dated Jan. 9, 2010).\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u2019s significant debut was powered by sales generated by a concert ticket\/album sale redemption offer tied to a series of Bocelli shows in 2018 and early 2019. (<em>Si<\/em>also nabs the largest sales week for any classical album since July 2, 2001, when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/jackie-evancho\">Jackie Evancho<\/a>\u2019s classical crossover set\u00a0<em>Dream With Me<\/em>\u00a0sold 161,000 copies in its first week and debuted\u00a0at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>First Classical No. 1 in 10 Years:\u00a0<\/strong><em>Si<\/em>\u00a0also debuts at No. 1 on both the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/biz\/charts\/classical-crossover-albums\">Classical Crossover Albums<\/a>\u00a0chart\u00a0and the overall\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/classical-albums\">Classical Albums<\/a>\u00a0chart. (The latter tally combines both classical crossover\u00a0and traditional classical efforts.)<\/p>\n<p>In turn,\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0is the first classical album to be No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart since Jan. 5, 2008, when Josh Groban\u2019s classical crossover holiday effort\u00a0<em>Noel<\/em>\u00a0spent its fifth and final week atop the tally.\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0is the first classical set to\u00a0<em>debut<\/em>\u00a0at No. 1 since the vocal quartet\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/il-divo\">Il Divo<\/a>\u00a0bowed at No. 1 with\u00a0<em>Ancora,\u00a0<\/em>another classical crossover effort,\u00a0on the Feb. 11, 2006-dated chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First No. 1 for Sugar Music &amp; First No. 1 for Decca Records in 10 Years:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>\u00a0was released through Sugar Music\/Decca Records, and marks the first leader for Sugar, and the first chart-topper for Decca, since 2008. Decca last led the list with the soundtrack to the film\u00a0<em>Mamma Mia!<\/em>, which was released via Decca\/UMe, and spent one week at No. 1 on the Aug. 23, 2008-dated tally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Non-English Album at No. 1:<\/strong><em>\u00a0Si<\/em>\u00a0is a mostly all-Italian-language album, making it one of the few non-English efforts to hit No. 1. It\u2019s actually the third primarily non-English album to lead the list in 2018, following two mostly Korean albums from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/bts\">BTS<\/a>:\u00a0<em>Love Yourself: Answer<\/em>\u00a0(Sept. 8) and\u00a0<em>Love Yourself: Tear<\/em>\u00a0(June 2). Before BTS, the last mostly non-English album to lead the list was Il Divo\u2019s\u00a0<em>Ancora<\/em>\u00a0on Feb. 11, 2006. (The album is comprised of\u00a0songs performed in Spanish, Italian and French,\u00a0along with a track sung partially in English.)<\/p>\n<p>As for\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>, it includes collaborations with Josh Groban,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/dua-lipa\">Dua Lipa<\/a>, Russian soprano Aida Garifullina,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ed-sheeran\">Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u00a0and Bocelli\u2019s 21-year-old son Matteo Bocelli. (Groban, Lipa and Sheeran all sing in Italian on\u00a0<em>Si<\/em>.) The album benefits from a variety of available versions of the set, including an edition of the album with Spanish-language versions of seven songs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lady-gaga\">Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0and Bradley Cooper\u2019s soundtrack to\u00a0<em>A Star Is Born<\/em>\u00a0falls to No. 2 on the Billboard 200\u00a0after three weeks at No. 1. The set earned 93,000 units in the week ending Nov. 1 (down 15 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Coming in at No. 3 is Joji\u2019s\u00a0<em>BALLADS 1<\/em>, with 57,000 units earned (with 34,000 of that sum in album sales). Joji (real name: George Miller) is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/hip-hop\/8061822\/joji-interview-will-he-filthy-frank\">former YouTuber<\/a>\u00a0who previously logged an entry on the Billboard 200 with the\u00a0<em>In Tongues<\/em>\u00a0EP (peaking at No. 58 on the Nov. 25, 2017-dated list).\u00a0<em>BALLADS 1<\/em>\u2019s sales were bolstered by a range of merchandise\/album bundles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/tory-lanez\">Tory Lanez<\/a>\u00a0clocks his third consecutive top five-charting album, as his third release,\u00a0<em>Love Me Now?<\/em>, starts at No. 4 with 54,000 units (5,000 in album sales). The bulk of\u00a0<em>Love<\/em>\u2019s first-week units were driven by streams, as it tallied 48,000 SEA units (translating to 62.5 million on-demand audio streams for the album\u2019s tracks). Lanez previously hit the top five with his two earlier albums:\u00a0<em>Memories Don\u2019t Die<\/em>\u00a0(No. 3; March 17) and\u00a0<em>I Told You<\/em>\u00a0(No. 4; Sept. 10, 2016).<\/p>\n<p>At No. 5 on the new Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lil-wayne\">Lil Wayne<\/a>\u2019s former No. 1,\u00a0<em>Tha Carter V<\/em>, is a non-mover with 52,000 units (down 20 percent).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lil-baby\">Lil Baby<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/gunna\">Gunna<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Drip Harder<\/em>\u00a0is stationary at No. 6 with just over 49,000 units (down 13 percent) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/drake\">Drake<\/a>\u2019s former leader\u00a0<em>Scorpion<\/em>\u00a0is steady at No. 7 with 49,000 (down 13 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/future\">Future<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/juice-wrld\">Juice WRLD<\/a>\u2019s collaborative effort\u00a0<em>WRLD ON DRUGS<\/em>\u00a0falls 2-8 in its second week (just over 45,000 units; down 54 percent), while a pair of former No. 1s round out the top 10:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/travis-scott\">Travis Scott<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Astroworld<\/em>\u00a0sits still at No. 9 (45,000 units; down 4 percent) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/post-malone\">Post Malone<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>beerbongs &amp; bentleys<\/em>\u00a0is steady at No. 10 (41,000 units; down 2 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Source: billboard.com<\/p>\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-1142\" data-postid=\"1142\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-1142 themify_builder themify_builder_front\">\r\n\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<!-- \/themify_builder_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Plus: Joji and Tory Lanez debut in top 10.
