The quartet\u2019s album, which was released on Nov. 16 via Gentlemen of the Road\/Glassnote Records, launches with 230,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 22, according to Nielsen Music. That\u2019s the biggest week for an alternative rock album in 2018. Of the album\u2019s starting sum, 214,000 were in album sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Dec. 1-dated chart (where\u00a0<em>Delta<\/em>\u00a0bows at No. 1) will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on\u00a0Tuesday (Nov. 27).<\/p>\n<p><em>Delta<\/em>, Mumford &amp; Sons\u2019 fourth full-length studio album, marks the third leader for group, following their last two studio sets:\u00a0<em>Wilder Mind<\/em>\u00a0(2015) and\u00a0<em>Babel<\/em>\u00a0(2012).\u00a0<em>Wilder Mind<\/em>\u00a0launched with 249,000 units (231,000 in album sales), while\u00a0<em>Babel<\/em>bowed with 600,000 in album sales (before the album transitioned to a units-ranked tally in late 2014). The act\u2019s first full-length set,\u00a0<em>Sigh No More<\/em>, peaked at No. 2 in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Overall,\u00a0<em>Delta<\/em>\u00a0is the Mumford\u2019s fifth top 10 effort. All four of the act\u2019s full-length studio releases have reached the top 10. The band notched another top 10 with the five-song\u00a0<em>Johannesburg<\/em>\u00a0EP in 2016, which peaked at No. 9. The set was a collaborative effort with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/baaba-maal\">Baaba Maal<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/the-very-best\">The Very Best<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/beatenberg\">Beatenberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Delta<\/em>\u2019s debut of 230,000 equivalent album units is the largest week for an alternative album in 2018, and the second-biggest for any rock album. Among all rock titles, only\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/dave-matthews-band\">Dave Matthews Band<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Come Tomorrow<\/em>\u00a0collected a bigger week, when it debuted at No. 1 (June 23-dated chart) with 292,000 units.<\/p>\n<p><em>Delta<\/em>\u2019s first-week album\u00a0<em>sales<\/em>\u00a0of 214,000 is 2018\u2019s largest week for an alternative album, the second-biggest for a rock title (following\u00a0<em>Come Tomorrow<\/em>, with 285,000) and the sixth-largest among all titles this year. The only bigger sales weeks in 2018 were tallied by the debut frames of\u00a0<em>Come Tomorrow<\/em>\u00a0(the largest sales week of 2018 overall),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/travis-scott\">Travis Scott<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Astroworld<\/em>\u00a0(270,000; Aug. 18),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/eminem\">Eminem<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Kamikaze<\/em>\u00a0(252,000; Sept. 15),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/carrie-underwood\">Carrie Underwood<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Cry Pretty<\/em>\u00a0(251,000; Sept. 29) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/justin-timberlake\">Justin Timberlake<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Man of the Woods<\/em>\u00a0(242,000; Feb. 17).<\/p>\n<p><em>Delta<\/em>\u2019s first-week sales was bolstered by sales generated by a concert ticket\/album sale redemption offer with the group\u2019s upcoming U.S.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/rock\/8478314\/mumford-sons-arena-world-tour-dates\">tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Delta<\/em>\u2019s lead radio single, \u201cGuiding Light,\u201d spent its fourth week at No. 1 on the most recently published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/triple-a\">Adult Alternative Songs<\/a>\u00a0airplay chart (dated Nov. 24). It\u2019s the fourth leader for the act on the tally, following \u201cBelieve\u201d (five weeks at No. 1 in 2015), \u201cLover of the Light\u201d (four weeks, 2013) and \u201cI Will Wait\u201d (11 weeks, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGuiding Light\u201d also rose 6-4 on the latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/alternative-songs\">Alternative Songs<\/a>\u00a0airplay chart. It\u2019s the eighth top 10 hit for the act, and the band\u2019s fifth song to reach the top five.<\/p>\n<p>At No. 2 on the Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/michael-buble\">Michel Bubl\u00e9<\/a>\u00a0collects his eighth top 10 album, as\u00a0<em>Love<\/em>(on Reprise\/Warner Bros. Records) starts with 111,000 units (105,000 in album sales). Of the pop singer\u2019s eight top 10 sets, six have reached the top two:\u00a0<em>Love<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Nobody But Me<\/em>\u00a0(No. 2, 2016);\u00a0<em>To Be Loved<\/em>\u00a0(No. 1 for one week, 2013);\u00a0<em>Christmas<\/em>\u00a0(No. 1, five weeks; 2011-2012);\u00a0<em>Crazy Love<\/em>\u00a0(No. 1, two weeks; 2009); and\u00a0<em>Call Me Irresponsible<\/em>\u00a0(No. 1, one week; 2007).<\/p>\n<p>The various artists compilation\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman: Reimagined<\/em>\u00a0debuts at No. 3 with 89,000 units (70,000 in album sales). The album (released via Fox\/20th Century Fox\/Atlantic Records) features an array of chart-topping musicians covering songs from the former No. 1 soundtrack to\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman<\/em>. Among the familiar names on the new album:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/panic-at-the-disco\">Panic! at the Disco<\/a>\u00a0(covering \u201cThe Greatest Show\u201d),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pnk\">P!nk<\/a>(\u201cA Million Dreams\u201d),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/zac-brown-band\">Zac Brown Band<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cFrom Now On\u201d) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/james-arthur\">James Arthur<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/anne-marie\">Anne-Marie<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cRewrite the Stars\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Reimagined<\/em>\u00a0album follows in the footsteps of another Atlantic Records refresher set, the chart-topping\u00a0<em>The Hamilton Mixtape<\/em>\u00a0(released via Hamilton Uptown\/Atlantic).\u00a0<em>The Hamilton Mixtape<\/em>\u00a0set boasts a bevy of stars covering and reinterpreting tunes from the top 10-charting Original Broadway Cast Recording of\u00a0<em>Hamilton: An American Musical<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Back on the new Billboard 200 chart,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lady-gaga\">Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0and Bradley Cooper\u2019s\u00a0<em>A Star Is Born<\/em>soundtrack climbs 5-4 with 62,000 units (but down 10 percent). The album spent its first three weeks at No. 1, and has yet to depart the top five after seven weeks on the tally.<\/p>\n<p>Pop diva\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/mariah-carey\">Mariah Carey<\/a>\u00a0earns her 18th top 10 album, as her new studio effort\u00a0<em>Caution<\/em>\u00a0debuts at No. 5 with 51,000 units (43,000 in album sales). Notably, of Carey\u2019s 21 charting efforts, only\u00a0<em>three<\/em>\u00a0have missed the top 10, and all were compilations:\u00a0<em>#1 To Infinity<\/em>\u00a0(No. 29, 2015),\u00a0<em>The Remixes<\/em>\u00a0(No. 26, 2003) and\u00a0<em>Greatest Hits<\/em>\u00a0(No. 52, 2001).<\/p>\n<p><em>Caution<\/em>\u00a0was introduced with a series of pre-release tracks, starting with the teaser cut \u201cGTFO\u201d in September, which was followed by the radio single \u201cWith You\u201d and the instant-grat track \u201cThe Distance\u201d in October, and \u201cA No No.\u201d On the most recently published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/adult-contemporary\">Adult Contemporary<\/a>\u00a0airplay chart (dated Nov. 24), \u201cWith You\u201d\u00a0held at its No. 11 high. It climbed 14-13 on Adult\u00a0R&amp;B Songs\u00a0and 41-38 on\u00a0R&amp;B\/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.<\/p>\n<p>Back on the Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/queen\">Queen<\/a>\u2019s soundtrack to\u00a0<em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>\u00a0rises 7-6 (48,000 units; down 10 percent), Travis Scott\u2019s former leader\u00a0<em>Astroworld<\/em>\u00a0ascends 10-7 (a little more than 44,000 units; up 9 percent) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/drake\">Drake<\/a>\u2019s former chart-topper\u00a0<em>Scorpion<\/em>\u00a0moves 9-8 (44,000 units; up 2 percent).
