Of that sum, 84,000 were in album sales, which made it\u00a0the biggest sales week for a rap set this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Search<\/em>\u2019s first-week more than doubles the debut frame of NF\u2019s last album,&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>, which&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/7998826\/nf-first-no-1-album-billboard-200-chart-perception\">opened<\/a>&nbsp;at No. 1 with 55,000 units earned (of which 38,000 were in album sales) on the chart dated Oct. 28, 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Aug. 10-dated chart, where\u00a0<em>The Search\u00a0<\/em>starts at No. 1,\u00a0will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on Aug. 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Search<\/em>&nbsp;starts with a larger-than-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8524462\/chance-the-rapper-big-day-billboard-200-chart-possible-number-one\">forecast<\/a>&nbsp;number, as some industry prognosticators&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8524462\/chance-the-rapper-big-day-billboard-200-chart-possible-number-one\">thought<\/a>&nbsp;the album would bow with around 95,000 units.&nbsp;<em>The Search&nbsp;<\/em>benefited from sturdy sales sold through traditional means like the iTunes Store, a range of merchandise\/album bundles sold via NF\u2019s official webstore &#8212; including a few late-in-the-week new offers of signed merch bundled with an album &#8212;&nbsp;and a concert ticket\/album sale redemption offer. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also helping&nbsp;<em>The Search<\/em>\u2019s first-week: a much larger streaming number as compared to the debut frame of NF\u2019s last album,&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>.&nbsp;<em>The Search<\/em>&nbsp;garnered 43,000 SEA units, which translates to 58.4 million on-demand audio streams for the set\u2019s songs. Comparatively,&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>&nbsp;bowed with 14,000 SEA units, equaling 21.1 million on-demand audio streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what\u2019s happened since\u00a0<em>Perception<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/7998826\/nf-first-no-1-album-billboard-200-chart-perception\">bowed<\/a>\u00a0at No. 1 in 2017?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>&nbsp;launched at No. 1, NF had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/7998826\/nf-first-no-1-album-billboard-200-chart-perception\">never<\/a>&nbsp;charted a single on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart,&nbsp;though he had been steadily building a dedicated fan base (enough of which to launch&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>&nbsp;at No. 1 on the Billboard 200).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then, things changed in a very big way, as&nbsp;<em>Perception<\/em>&nbsp;went on to log a pair of hit singles on the Hot 100 with&nbsp;\u201cLet You Down\u201d (peaking at No. 12) and \u201cLie\u201d (No. 48). The two tracks were significant radio hits as well, topping out at Nos. 9 and 18, respectively, on the all-genre&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/radio-songs\">Radio Songs<\/a>&nbsp;chart,&nbsp;in addition to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8230357\/nf-let-you-down-pop-songs-airplay-chart-number-one\">Nos. 1<\/a>&nbsp;and 8 on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/pop-songs\">Pop Songs<\/a>&nbsp;chart (which ranks the week\u2019s most played songs on top 40-formatted radio stations).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Perception<\/em>\u00a0has gone on to earn a total of 1.1 million equivalent album units, with 160,000 of that sum in album sales. The album\u2019s tracks have collectively sold 1 million downloads, and generated over 1.2 billion on-demand audio streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Search<\/em>\u2019s current radio-promoted single, \u201cTime,\u201d debuted at No. 38 on the most recently published Rhythmic Songs airplay chart (dated Aug. 3) and was bubbling under the threshold of the Pop Songs tally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chance-the-rapper\">Chance the Rapper<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Big Day<\/em>&nbsp;debuts with 108,000 equivalent album units earned (with 27,000 of that figure in album sales).&nbsp;<em>The Big Day<\/em>&nbsp;marks Chance\u2019s highest-charting album yet, and third top 10 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of&nbsp;<em>The Big Day<\/em>\u2019s unit start, 80,000 of that sum was driven by SEA units, which translates to 104 million on-demand audio streams for the set\u2019s songs during the week,&nbsp;making&nbsp;<em>The Big Day<\/em>&nbsp;the most-streamed album of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Big Day<\/em>\u00a0is Chance\u2019s first studio album, after previously releasing three solo mixtapes:<em>10 Day<\/em>\u00a0in 2012;\u00a0<em>Acid Rap<\/em>, 2013,\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Coloring Book<\/em>, 2016.\u00a0<em>The Big Day<\/em>\u00a0is also Chance\u2019s first album to be released simultaneously on streaming services and for sale via retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His first two mixtapes were issued as free downloads&nbsp;and not available on streamers. Then, in 2016, he issued&nbsp;<em>Coloring Book<\/em>&nbsp;initially exclusively via Apple Music\u2019s streaming platform before making it available widely to all streamers. He made chart history with&nbsp;<em>Coloring Book<\/em>, as it bowed at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 (dated June 4, 2016), becoming the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/7378361\/chance-the-rapper-coloring-book-first-streaming-exclusive\">first streaming-exclusive album to ever chart<\/a>&nbsp;on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in 2019, Chance gave&nbsp;<em>10 Day<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Acid Rap<\/em>&nbsp;their streaming and retail debuts while also granting&nbsp;<em>Coloring Book<\/em>&nbsp;its first&nbsp;retail&nbsp;release.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8519272\/chance-the-rapper-acid-rap-10-day-billboard-200\">In turn<\/a>, on the Billboard 200 dated July 13,&nbsp;<em>Acid Rap<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8519272\/chance-the-rapper-acid-rap-10-day-billboard-200\">bowed<\/a>&nbsp;at No. 5 on the Billboard 200,&nbsp;<em>10 Day&nbsp;<\/em>debuted at No. 73, and&nbsp;<em>Coloring Book<\/em>&nbsp;re-entered at No. 46.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the new Billboard 200 chart, Chance has two more titles on the tally:\u00a0<em>Coloring Book<\/em>\u00a0re-enters at No. 147, while\u00a0<em>Acid Rap<\/em>\u00a0rises 194-157.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like NF\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Search<\/em>, Chance\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Big Day<\/em>&nbsp;was supported by an array of merchandise\/album bundles Chance sold via his official website. In addition, Chance offered an album bundled with an access code to the pre-sale for his upcoming&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/news\/live\/8524225\/chance-the-rapper-north-american-tour-dates\">concert tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ed-sheeran\">Ed&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ed-sheeran\">Sheeran<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>No.6 Collaborations Project<\/em>&nbsp;falls from No. 1 to No. 3 after a pair of weeks in the penthouse. The set logged 58,000 units earned in its third frame (down 25%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two former No. 1s are next on the Billboard 200, as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/billie-eilish\">Billie&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/billie-eilish\">Eilish<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?<\/em>&nbsp;dips 3-4 (47,000 units; down 8%) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chris-brown\">Chris Brown<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Indigo<\/em>climbs 6-5 (40,000 units; up 9%). Lil Nas X\u2019s&nbsp;<em>7<\/em>&nbsp;falls 4-6 with 39,000 units (down 9%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/lizzo\">Lizzo<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Cuz I Love You<\/em>\u00a0is steady at No. 7, but with a 15% gain in units, as it earned 37,000 units for the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At No. 8, rappers Key Glock and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/young-dolph\">Young&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/young-dolph\">Dolph<\/a>\u2019s team-up on the collaborative set&nbsp;<em>Dum and Dummer<\/em>&nbsp;arrives with 36,000 equivalent album units (with just 2,000 of that sum in album sales). The set\u2019s debut is powered almost entirely by streaming activity, as it garnered 33,000 SEA units (equating 43.7 million on-demand audio streams for the set\u2019s songs).&nbsp;<em>Dum and Dummer<\/em>&nbsp;is the first top 10 for either act: Key Glock notched two earlier entries, while Young Dolph placed seven albums on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/of-monsters-and-men\">Of Monsters and Men<\/a>&nbsp;score its third top 10 effort on the Billboard 200&nbsp;as the band&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Fever Dream<\/em>&nbsp;debuts at No. 9. The set starts with 34,000 equivalent album units earned, with 30,000 of that sum in album sales. The album\u2019s first-week sales were aided by a concert ticket\/album sale redemption offer with the group\u2019s upcoming tour. Of Monsters and Men previously visited the top 10 with&nbsp;<em>Beneath the Skin<\/em>&nbsp;(No. 3 in 2015) and&nbsp;<em>My Head Is An Animal<\/em>&nbsp;(No. 6, 2012).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Closing out the new top 10 is the multi-artist\u00a0<em>Revenge of the Dreamers III<\/em>\u00a0project\u00a0as it falls 5-10.
