The &#8220;Hotline\u00a0Bling&#8221; rapper leads all 2016 American Music Awards\u00a0nominees with nods in categories including Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album, Favorite Rap Artist, Favorite Rap Song and Favorite R&amp;B song, among others. If he wins in any of the categories it will make his first AMA win.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/365068\/rihanna\/chart\">Rihanna<\/a> was just behind Drizzy with seven nominations for the show that will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater\u00a0in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/278035\/adele\/chart\">Adele<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/305459\/justin-bieber\/chart\">Justin Bieber<\/a> picked up five nominations each, followed by four nods each for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/281569\/beyonce\/chart\">Beyonc\u00e9<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/5794072\/the-chainsmokers\/chart\">The Chainsmokers<\/a> and three for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6627423\/bryson-tiller\/chart\">Bryson Tiller<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/430557\/twenty-one-pilots\/chart\">Twenty One Pilots<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/298758\/carrie-underwood\/chart\">Carrie Underwood<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6407961\/fetty-wap\/chart\">Fetty Wap<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/419413\/weeknd\/chart\">Weeknd<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Drake will go up\u00a0against Adele,\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9, Bieber, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/278617\/selena-gomez\/chart\">Selena Gomez<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/1484343\/ariana-grande\/chart\">Ariana\u00a0Grande<\/a>, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Underwood and\u00a0The\u00a0Weeknd for\u00a0Artist of the Year;\u00a0the 10\u00a0nominees will be narrowed to five based on the votes received through Monday, November 14 at 8:59 a.m.\u00a0PT.\u00a0Voting for Artist of the Year will close on Thursday, November 17 at 8:59 p.m.\u00a0PT. The winner will be determined by the total votes received throughout the entire voting period. If Bieber wins the award he will tie current record hold Taylor Swift for the most wins (3). With eight past wins and this year&#8217;s five nominations, Bieber needs just one win to become one of the\u00a0top 10 AMA winners of all time.<\/p>\n<p>The Chainsmokers\u00a0will face a formidable group of acts for the coveted New Artist\u00a0of the Year crown, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6708267\/dnce\/chart\">DNCE<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6592648\/alessia-cara\/chart\">Alessia Cara<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6143288\/shawn-mendes\/chart\">Shawn Mendes<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6530593\/zayn-malik\/chart?sort=position\">Zayn Malik<\/a>.\u00a0American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in <em>Billboard<\/em> Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. These measurements are tracked by <em>Billboard<\/em> and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. Winners are voted entirely by fans, with voting opening\u00a0today (Oct. 10)\u00a0in all categories except New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile, which will open on November 2<sup>nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Fans can vote for all category once per day, per platform in one or both of the below ways. For New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile, fans can vote 100 times per day, per platform at <a href=\"http:\/\/amavote.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMAvote.com<\/a>\u00a0or by posting\u00a0a tweet that includes the nominee&#8217;s Twitter handle, the category name and #AMAs within the post(s).\u00a0The<em>2016 American Music Awards<\/em>\u00a0is produced by dick clark productions.
