He and Mike Elizondo co-produced it and earn their first and second trips to No. 1, respectively, in those roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bvWRMAU6V-c\" width=\"650\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s talk, a lot, about \u201cBruno,\u201d which becomes the Hot 100\u2019s 1,133rd No. 1 over the chart\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/business\/chart-beat\/6655650\/hot-100-co-creator-seymour-stein-interview\/\">63-year history<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Streams, airplay &amp; sales:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cBruno\u201d drew 34.9 million U.S. streams (up 8%) and 1.5 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 239%) and sold 12,300 downloads (up 32%, aided by 69-cent discount pricing in the iTunes Store, good for the Hot 100\u2019s top Sales Gainer award) in the Jan. 21-27 tracking week, according to MRC Data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The track tops the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/streaming-songs\">Streaming Songs<\/a>&nbsp;chart for a fourth week and ranks at No. 3 on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/digital-song-sales\/\">Digital Song Sales<\/a>, a week after it reached the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBruno\u201d rules the Hot 100 in its fifth week on the chart, after it debuted at No. 50 on the Jan. 8 survey.&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;arrived Dec. 24 on the Disney+ streaming service, after it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/encanto-disney-1235047171\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">premiered<\/a>&nbsp;in U.S. theaters Nov. 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018World\u2019 Meets \u2018Bruno\u2019:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cBruno\u201d becomes only the second Hot 100 No. 1 from a Disney animated film. It follows Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Aladdin<\/em>&nbsp;theme \u201cA Whole New World,\u201d which topped the March 6, 1993, chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBruno\u201d was released on Walt Disney Records, while \u201cWorld\u201d was released on Columbia Records. That leads, in part, to \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disney domination:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cBruno\u201d marks the first Hot 100 No. 1 for Walt Disney Records. (The label formed in 1956, just before the Hot 100 began in 1958.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to \u201cBruno,\u201d another collaborative song represented Walt Disney Records\u2019 highest Hot 100 rank: \u201cBreaking Free,\u201d by Zac Efron, Andrew Seeley and Vanessa Anne Hudgens, from&nbsp;<em>High School Musical<\/em>, hit No. 4 on the Feb. 11, 2006, chart. The label has also reached the top five via Idina Menzel\u2019s \u201cLet It Go,\u201d from&nbsp;<em>Frozen<\/em>&nbsp;(No. 5, 2014).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(The Disney Music Group, which includes the Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records labels, notched one prior Hot 100 No. 1: the latter label\u2019s \u201cHey There Delilah\u201d by Plain White T\u2019s led for two weeks in 2007.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe [<em>Encanto<\/em>] rollout began with a fantastic film, incredible music and a strong marketing campaign,\u201d Disney Music Group president Ken Bunt recently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/disney-music-group-president-ken-bunt-encanto-executive-week\/\">told&nbsp;<em>Billboard<\/em><\/a>, adding that one reason he feels that \u201cBruno,\u201d specifically, has connected is that it \u201cincludes the entire Family Madrigal, which reflects the dynamics of so many families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soundtrack &amp; song both No. 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;As \u201cBruno\u201d crowns the Hot 100, its parent album, the&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;soundtrack, tops the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/billboard-200\/\">Billboard 200<\/a>&nbsp;albums chart for a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/encanto-soundtrack-billboard-200-number-one-third-week-1235025054\/\">third week<\/a>, up 11% to 115,000 equivalent album units, its best weekly total so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, the&nbsp;<em>Aladdin<\/em>&nbsp;soundtrack, from which \u201cA Whole New World\u201d was released, peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, in February 1993. Thus, this week marks the first frame that a soundtrack to a Disney animated movie and one of its songs simultaneously lead the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until this week, no soundtrack and corresponding song at all had led the charts simultaneously since&nbsp;<em>A Star Is Born<\/em>&nbsp;and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper\u2019s \u201cShallow\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper-shallow-hot-100-number-one\/\">ruled<\/a>&nbsp;the respective rankings dated March 9, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lin-Manel leads:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cBruno\u201d was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who achieves his first No. 1 writing credit on the Hot 100. The Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner, among numerous other honors, previously reached a No. 20 best in October 2017 as both a recording artist and writer thanks to \u201cAlmost Like Praying,\u201d his&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/lin-manuel-miranda-almost-like-praying-top-selling-debut\/\">charity single<\/a>&nbsp;featuring Artists for Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been really amazing because ensemble numbers don\u2019t usually get this kind of love,\u201d Miranda mused of \u201cBruno\u201d on&nbsp;<em>Billboard<\/em>\u2018s latest&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/media\/podcasts\/lin-manuel-miranda-encanto-interview-pop-shop-podcast-1235023182\/\">Pop Shop Podcast<\/a>. \u201cMy job is to raise my hand and let this room of animators and incredibly creative people know what music can do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Single writer on a No. 1 single:<\/strong>\u00a0As Miranda wrote \u201cBruno\u201d solo, the song is the first Hot 100 No. 1 by only one writer in over four years, since Ed Sheeran\u2019s self-penned \u201cPerfect\u201d wrapped its six-week reign in January 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a topic that received&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/hits-without-co-writers-taylor-swift-damon-albarn-1235022686\/\">renewed attention last week<\/a>, \u201cBruno,\u201d thus, the first No. 1 of the 2020s by a single writer, follows four in the \u201910s and nine in the \u201900s (as such songs have plummeted in prominence atop the Hot 100 dating&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/hit-songs-written-by-one-songwriter-fleetwood-mac-dreams-stevie-nicks\/\">back even further<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elizondo\u2019s second No. 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;Miranda and Mike Elizondo co-produced \u201cBruno.\u201d Miranda earns his first Hot 100 No. 1 as a producer, among two top 10s (joined by&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>\u2018s \u201cSurface Pressure\u201d; see below), while Elizondo adds his second No. 1, nearly 19 years after his first: he and Dr. Dre co-produced 50 Cent\u2019s \u201cIn Da Club,\u201d which reigned for nine weeks beginning in March 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to \u201cBruno\u201d and \u201cSurface Pressure,\u201d Elizondo has upped his count to eight Hot 100 top 10s as a producer. Prior to&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>, he had last ranked in the tier as a producer in 2016 via two No. 2 hits by twenty one pilots, \u201cStressed Out\u201d and \u201cHeathens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Most credited artists on a No. 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;While one person wrote \u201cBruno,\u201d the song, conversely, sets the record for the most credited recording artists ever on a Hot 100 No. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The billing of Carolina Gait\u00e1n, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;Cast outpaces the quintet of DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, whose \u201cI\u2019m the One\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/dj-khaled-im-the-one-hot-100-debuts-number-one-justin-bieber\/\">topped<\/a>&nbsp;the May 20, 2017, chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Notably, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/we-are-the-world-a-minute-by-minute-breakdown-54619\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">superstar-infused<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cWe Are the World,\u201d which topped the Hot 100 for four weeks in 1985, was billed as by USA for Africa.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gait\u00e1n, Castillo, Adassa, Feliz, Guerrero and Beatriz each lead the Hot 100 for the first time. They voice&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;characters, and Madrigal family members, Pepa, F\u00e9lix, Dolores, Camilo, Isabela and Mirabel, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for Bruno \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Encanto\u2019 enchants the top 40 &amp; beyond:<\/strong>&nbsp;John Leguizamo voices&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>\u2018s Bruno Madrigal. While his character is the subject of the Hot 100\u2019s new No. 1 but he\u2019s not one of its singers, the acclaimed (and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/latin\/john-leguizamo-essay-latin-underrepresentation-music-movies-vmas-despacito-snub-7942283\/\">socially-conscious<\/a>) veteran actor is scaling the chart with his first entry thanks to another&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;song, \u201cAll of You.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;tracks, all written solely by Miranda and produced by Miranda and Elizondo, place on the Feb. 5 Hot 100, and all reach new highs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No. 1, \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk About Bruno,\u201d Carolina Gait\u00e1n, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz &amp;&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;Cast<br>No. 9, \u201cSurface Pressure,\u201d Jessica Darrow<br>No. 20, \u201cThe Family Madrigal,\u201d Beatriz, Olga Merediz &amp;&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;Cast<br>No. 27, \u201cWhat Else Can I Do?,\u201d Guerrero &amp; Beatriz<br>No. 36, \u201cDos Oruguitas,\u201d Sebasti\u00e1n Yatra (up from No. 44, as the song,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/awards\/2022-oscars-encanto-we-dont-talk-about-bruno-1235016288\/\">shortlisted<\/a>&nbsp;for a best original song Oscar nomination, brings Yatra to the Hot 100\u2019s top 40 in his first appearance on the chart)<br>No. 48, \u201cWaiting On a Miracle,\u201d Beatriz<br>No. 82, \u201cAll of You,\u201d Beatriz, Merediz, John Leguizamo, Adassa, Maluma &amp;&nbsp;<em>Encanto<\/em>&nbsp;Cast<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JyvyUi30bD0\" width=\"650\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Just as \u201cA Whole New World\u201d dethroned a long-leading ballad (Whitney Houston\u2019s 14-week No. 1 \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d) atop the Hot 100, \u201cBruno\u201d succeeds Adele\u2019s \u201cEasy on Me,\u201d which ranks at No. 2 after 10 weeks on top. Still, \u201cEasy\u201d tops the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/radio-songs\">Radio Songs<\/a>&nbsp;chart for a 10th week (94.6 million, down 1%) and drew 14.1 million streams (down 2%) and sold 5,200 downloads (up 1%) in the tracking week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The songs at Nos. 3 through 8 on the Hot 100 all maintain their ranks from a week earlier, led by Glass Animals\u2019 \u201cHeat Waves.\u201d The track, which holds at its best rank, also tops the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/rock-songs\">Hot Rock &amp; Alternative Songs<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/hot-alternative-songs\">Hot Alternative Songs<\/a>&nbsp;charts, both of which use the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100, for a 19th week each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber\u2019s \u201cStay\u201d keeps at No. 4 on the Hot 100 after seven weeks at No. 1 and Kodak Black\u2019s \u201cSuper Gremlin\u201d repeats at its No. 5 high, as it leads the multi-metric\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/r-b-hip-hop-songs\">Hot R&amp;B\/Hip-Hop Songs<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/rap-song\/\">Hot Rap Songs<\/a>\u00a0charts for a third week each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u201cShivers\u201d is steady at No. 6 on the Hot 100 after hitting No. 4; Gunna and Future\u2019s \u201cPushin P,\u201d featuring Young Thug, remains at its No. 7 best; and GAYLE\u2019s \u201cabcdefu\u201d holds at its No. 8 high, as it claims the chart\u2019s top Airplay Gainer nod (37.9 million, up 27%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Encanto<\/em>\u2018s \u201cSurface Pressure\u201d by Jessica Darrow, who voices the film\u2019s Luisa Madrigal, rises 10-9 for a new Hot 100 highpoint, swapping spots with Elton John and Dua Lipa\u2019s \u201cCold Heart (Pnau Remix)\u201d (9-10), after the latter reached No. 7.
