With its latest frame at No. 1, Carey becomes the third artist \u2013 and first woman \u2013 with three songs that have reigned for double-digit weeks. Carey crowned the chart for 16 weeks with \u201cOne Sweet Day,\u201d with Boyz II Men, in 1995-96, and for 14 weeks with \u201cWe Belong Together\u201d in 2005. Boyz II Men and Drake are the only other acts to have achieved such a triumphant triple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/sza\/\">SZA<\/a>\u00a0launches two songs in the Hot 100\u2019s top 10 \u2013 \u201cKill Bill,\u201d at No. 3, and \u201cNobody Gets Me,\u201d at No. 10 \u2013 both from her new album,\u00a0<em>S.O.S<\/em>, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/sza-first-number-one-album-billboard-200-chart-sos-1235189465\/\">launches as her first No. 1<\/a>\u00a0on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/billboard-200\/\">Billboard 200<\/a>. For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"post-video\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (Official Video)\" width=\"1165\" height=\"874\" src=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/embed\/yXQViqx6GMY?wmode=transparent&#038;fs=1\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChristmas,\u201d on Columbia Records\/Legacy Recordings, was first released on Carey\u2019s album&nbsp;<em>Merry Christmas<\/em>&nbsp;in 1994 and, as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/encanto-we-dont-talk-about-bruno-luminate-2022-midyear-charts-1235114205\/\">streaming has grown<\/a>&nbsp;and holiday music has become&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/business\/business-news\/christmas-songs-breaking-through-music-market-1235009608\/\">more prominent<\/a>&nbsp;on streaming services\u2019 playlists, it first reached the Hot 100\u2019s top 10 in December 2017 and first hit the top five in the 2018 holiday season, before reigning over the holidays in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/business\/chart-beat\/8546418\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-number-one\">2019<\/a>&nbsp;(for three weeks),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-number-one-2020\/\">2020<\/a>&nbsp;(two),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-hot-100-number-one-dec-25-2021-1235012982\/\">2021<\/a>&nbsp;(three) and now 2022 (two to-date).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Streams, airplay &amp; sales:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cChristmas\u201d drew 41.4 million streams (up 14%) and 33.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 11%) and sold 11,000 downloads (up 86%) in the U.S. in the Dec. 9-15 tracking week, according to Luminate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The song adds a third week at No. 1, up from No. 3, on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/digital-song-sales\">Digital Song Sales<\/a>&nbsp;chart, following frames on top in 2005 and 2019; dips to No. 2 after 17 total weeks atop&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/streaming-songs\">Streaming Songs<\/a>; and rises 17-14 on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/radio-songs\">Radio Songs<\/a>, where it hit a No. 12 high over the 1994 holidays and has returned to the top 15 in each of the last four holiday seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Third No. 1 of at 10 weeks or more:<\/strong>\u00a0Carey becomes the third artist, and first woman, with three songs that have ruled the Hot 100 for 10 or more weeks. Here\u2019s a recap of the elite three acts to have earned the honor \u2013 with Carey and Boyz II Men having teamed for one song below. (Carey and Boyz II Men\u2019s \u201cOne Sweet Day\u201d solely held the record for the chart\u2019s longest reign for over 21 years, until Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee\u2019s \u201cDespacito,\u201d featuring Justin Bieber, matched it with 16 weeks on top in 2017. The songs now share the second-longest No. 1 stay, after Lil Nas X\u2019s \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, dominated for 19 weeks in 2019.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No. 1 on both \u2018Christmas\u2019 Eve and Day:<\/strong>&nbsp;Among its 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Carey\u2019s \u201cChristmas\u201d has led lists dated Dec. 24 (this year) and Dec. 25 (2021). It, fittingly, becomes the only song to have topped Hot 100 charts dated both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Longest span atop the Hot 100:<\/strong>&nbsp;Carey\u2019s \u201cChristmas\u201d extends the longest span from a song\u2019s first week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 to its latest, to just over three years (Dec. 21, 2019-Dec. 24, 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, the latest week atop the Hot 100 for \u201cChristmas\u201d extends Carey\u2019s record for the longest span of an artist ranking at No. 1 on the chart: 32 years and nearly five months, dating to her first week at No. 1 on the list dated Aug. 4, 1990, with her debut single \u201cVision of Love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Most weeks at No. 1 for a holiday hit:<\/strong>&nbsp;Carey\u2019s \u201cChristmas\u201d expands its record for the most time atop the Hot 100 for a holiday song. The only other seasonal single to lead, \u201cThe Chipmunk Song,\u201d by David Seville &amp; the Chipmunks, spent four weeks at No. 1. (\u201c\u2018The Chipmunk Song\u2019 is one of the fastest breaking and fastest selling records of 1958,\u201d&nbsp;<em>Billboard<\/em>&nbsp;reported when the song first reigned, in the Dec. 22, 1958, issue, adding that it had become the \u201cbiggest seller since \u2018Hound Dog\u2019,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/doja-cat-vegas-music-interpolation-influx\/\">first made a hit<\/a>&nbsp;by Big Mama Thornton and then Elvis Presley. \u201cSales city by city [for \u201cChipmunk\u201d] have been astounding and it has been blaring out of radios, juke boxes and loudspeaker systems from New York to Los Angeles every day for weeks.\u201d)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Carey\u2019s record 89th week atop Hot 100:<\/strong>&nbsp;With \u201cChristmas,\u201d Carey adds her record-extending 89th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, dating to the chart\u2019s Aug. 4, 1958,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/hot-100-64-years-fun-facts-ricky-nelson-lizzo-1235122282\/\">inception<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot 100:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>89, Mariah Carey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60, Rihanna<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>59, The Beatles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>54, Drake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>50, Boyz II Men<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>47, Usher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>43, Beyonc\u00e9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>37, Michael Jackson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>34, Adele<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>34, Elton John<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>34, Bruno Mars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChristmas\u201d became Carey\u2019s 19th Hot 100 No. 1, the most among soloists and one away from The Beatles\u2019 overall record 20. SZA earns her third leader on the latter list, following \u201cI Hate U\u201d and \u201cThe Weekend\u201d (in 2018), and her second No. 1 on the former, after \u201cI Hate U.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The late Bobby Helms\u2019 \u201cJingle Bell Rock,\u201d from 1957, drops 3-4 on the Hot 100 and the late Burl Ives\u2019 \u201cA Holly Jolly Christmas,\u201d from 1964, backtracks 4-5, each slipping a spot from their respective highs reached in each of the last four holiday seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wham!\u2019s \u201cLast Christmas\u201d hits a new best Hot 100 rank, jingling 9-6, after the 1984 release first reached the top 10 during the 2020 holidays and hit a prior No. 7 high last holiday season. It ascends with 28.9 million streams (up 15%), 23 million in radio reach (up 2%) and 3,000 sold (up 7%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d retreats 6-7 after spending its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/taylor-swift-anti-hero-atop-hot-100-sixth-week-six-holiday-classics-top-10-1235181147\/\">first six weeks<\/a>&nbsp;on the Hot 100 at No. 1 starting in November. It concurrently ascends to the top of the Pop Airplay chart, where it\u2019s Swift\u2019s 10th leader and first since \u201cDelicate\u201d in 2018. \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d leads Adult Pop Airplay, where it\u2019s her ninth No. 1, for a fourth week. On Radio Songs, it holds at its No. 2 high (77 million, up 3%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andy Williams\u2019 1963 carol \u201cIt\u2019s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year\u201d rebounds 11-8 on the Hot 100; it hit a No. 5 high in the 2020 holiday season.
