It earned 125,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 5 (down 2%), according to Luminate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SOS<\/em>\u00a0is the first album by a woman to spend its first four weeks at No. 1 in a year, since Adele\u2019s\u00a0<em>30<\/em>\u00a0ruled for its first six weeks (Dec. 4, 2021 through Jan. 8, 2022-dated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/charts\/\">charts<\/a>) and is the first album by a woman to have four consecutive weeks at No. 1 since\u00a0<em>30<\/em>\u2019s six week-run at No. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SOS<\/em>\u00a0is also the first R&amp;B album by a woman to have four weeks at No. 1 since February of 2008, when Alicia Keys\u2019\u00a0<em>As I Am<\/em>\u00a0notched a fourth and final nonconsecutive week atop the list (Feb. 16, 2008). More strikingly,\u00a0<em>SOS<\/em>\u00a0is the first R&amp;B album by a woman to spend its first four weeks at No. 1 in nearly 30 years, since Janet Jackson\u2019s\u00a0<em>janet.<\/em>\u00a0ruled for its first six frames (June 5-July 10, 1993). (R&amp;B albums are defined as those that have hit or are eligible for\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/billboard\/\">Billboard<\/a><\/em>\u2019s Top R&amp;B Albums chart.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in the top 10: holiday albums vacate the region (and chart) entirely after five dotted the top 10 a week ago, while&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ateez\/\">ATEEZ<\/a>&nbsp;notches its second top 10-charting album, as&nbsp;<em>Spin Off: From the Witness<\/em>&nbsp;debuts at No. 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on&nbsp;multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid\/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Jan. 14, 2023-dated chart will be posted in full on&nbsp;<em>Billboard<\/em>\u2018s website on Jan. 10. For all chart&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/news\/\">news<\/a>, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of\u00a0<em>SOS<\/em>\u2019 125,000 equivalent album units earned, SEA units comprise 121,500 (down 4%, equaling 162.42 million on-demand official streams of the set\u2019s tracks), album sales comprise 3,000 (up 289%) and TEA units comprise 500 (down 7%).\u00a0<em>SOS<\/em>\u00a0got a sales boost following the release of two new digital album variants of the set, released late on Jan. 5 exclusively in SZA\u2019s Top Dawg Entertainment\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/txdxe.com\/collections\/new-arrivals\" target=\"_blank\">webstore<\/a>. The two versions included two bonus tracks (\u201cPSA\u201d and a solo version of the album\u2019s \u201cOpen Arms\u201d) and sold for $4.99 each, and one of them boasted alternative cover art. SZA\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sza\/status\/1611154764204736514\" target=\"_blank\">promoted<\/a>\u00a0the release on her\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sza\/status\/1611225877886697472\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a>, including her official Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the top six on the Billboard 200 consists of former No. 1s.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/taylor-swift\/\">Taylor Swift<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Midnights<\/em>&nbsp;is a non-mover at No. 2 (117,000 equivalent album units; up 10%). The set\u2019s album sales grew by 7% for the week (to 58,000) following the release of four new digital album variants in Swift\u2019s webstore for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-midnights-bonus-material-behind-the-song-12-hour-sale-1235194632\/\">one day only<\/a>&nbsp;on Jan. 5. Each had alternative cover art, an exclusive bonus track (a short \u201cbehind the song\u201d commentary from Swift about one of four different songs on the album) and sold for $4.99 each. The four alternative covers, if combined, would complete a clock face image \u2013 similar to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/taylor-swift-midnights-debut-number-one-billboard-200-albums-chart-1235163377\/\">back covers<\/a>&nbsp;of her CD and vinyl LP variants. Swift promoted the limited-time offer in her Instagram Stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/metro-boomin\/\">Metro Boomin<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Heroes &amp; Villains<\/em>&nbsp;rises 4-3 (57,000 equivalent album units; down 2%),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/drake\/\">Drake<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/21-savage\/\">21 Savage<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Her Loss<\/em>&nbsp;bumps 6-4 (52,000; up 4%),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/bad-bunny\/\">Bad Bunny<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Un Verano Sin Ti<\/em>&nbsp;climbs 7-5 (50,000; up 4%) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/morgan-wallen\/\">Morgan Wallen<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Dangerous: The Double Album<\/em>&nbsp;jumps 11-6 (42,000; up 6%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ATEEZ collect its second top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 as&nbsp;<em>Spin Off: From the Witness<\/em>&nbsp;debuts at No. 7. The set starts with 41,500 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 40,000; SEA units comprise 1,500 (equaling 2.11 million on-demand official streams of the set\u2019s tracks) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDs comprise a little over 39,000 of&nbsp;<em>Spin Off<\/em>\u2019s sales for the week, while digital album purchases comprise 1,000. Like many K-pop releases, the CD configuration of&nbsp;<em>Spin Off<\/em>&nbsp;was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/sza-sos-christmas-albums-number-one-contenders\/\">issued<\/a>&nbsp;in collectible deluxe packages (six), each with a standard set of items and randomized elements (photocards and posters).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ATEEZ previously visited the top 10 with\u00a0<em>The World EP.1: Movement<\/em>\u00a0last June, debuting and peaking at No. 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rounding out the Billboard 200\u2019s new top 10:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/zach-bryan\/\">Zach Bryan<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>\u00a0(22-8 with 33,000 equivalent album units; up 12%),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/lil-baby\/\">Lil Baby<\/a>\u2019s chart-topping\u00a0<em>It\u2019s Only Me<\/em>\u00a0(20-9 with 32,000; up 6%) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/harry-styles\/\">Harry Styles<\/a>\u2019 former No. 1\u00a0<em>Harry\u2019s House<\/em>\u00a0(19-10 with 29,000; down 4%).
