The smash one-ups the command of Mariah Carey\u2019s perennial \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You,\u201d which has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/mariah-carey-hot-100-christmas-22nd-week\/\">topped<\/a> the chart each Yuletide season since the classic 1994 carol <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-number-one\/\">first<\/a> led.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s an updated look at the longest-leading hits, ranked by most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100, since the chart began in August 1958:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>23 weeks (to date), \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas,\u201d Ella Langley, 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>22, \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You,\u201d Mariah Carey, 2019-26<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>19, \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy),\u201d Shaboozey, 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>19, \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16, \u201cLast Night,\u201d Morgan Wallen, 2023<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16, \u201cDespacito,\u201d Luis Fonsi &amp; Daddy Yankee feat. It became her first top 10 in January and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/ella-langley-choosin-texas-hot-100-number-one\/\">initially led<\/a> in February, on its way to setting multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/ella-langley-chart-records-choosin-texas\/\">chart records<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt feels surreal,\u201d Langley told <em>Billboard News<\/em> earlier this year of the song\u2019s impact. \u201cI think this has been the biggest moment for me, where I\u2019ve seen where fans can change your career. For so long, you\u2019re like, \u2018Alright, one song at a time, one record at a time.\u2019 But with this one song \u2014 and they\u2019ve done it continuously for me \u2014 but really with \u2018Choosin\u2019 Texas\u2019 \u2026 man, have they taken ahold of it. It\u2019s wild.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for what has helped the song connect so strongly? \u201cI don\u2019t know. I really don\u2019t,\u201d said Langley, who co-penned it with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor. \u201cThose of us that wrote it, we talk about that. We love this song. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s because it\u2019s an honest point of view \u2026 but I hear a lot of honest songs all the time, so I don\u2019t know. I tried to add some groove into this record, big singing choruses and big melodic guitar licks that you can remember.
