The set, which was released on June 16 through Lava\/Republic Records, earned 109,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 22, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 82,000 were in traditional album sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0July 8-dated chart (where Lorde starts at No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard\u2019s websites on Tuesday,\u00a0June 27.<\/p>\n<p><em>Melodrama<\/em>\u00a0follows Lorde\u2019s debut full-length album,\u00a0<em>Pure Heroine<\/em>, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 in 2013 with 129,000 copies sold in its first week (before the album transitioned to a consumption-based ranking in 2014).<\/p>\n<p><em>Melodrama<\/em>\u00a0marks the third album by a woman in a row at No. 1 on the chart (in as many weeks), following the\u00a0chart-topping\u00a0arrivals of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/305595\/katy-perry\/chart\">Katy Perry<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Witness<\/em>\u00a0(July 1) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6281104\/halsey\/chart\">Halsey<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Hopeless Fountain Kingdom<\/em>\u00a0(June 24).\u00a0The chart last had three women in a row back\u00a0in December\u00a02012, when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/371422\/taylor-swift\/chart\">Taylor Swift<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Red<\/em>\u00a0returned\u00a0to No. 1 (Dec. 22), following\u00a0No. 1\u00a0bows by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/278600\/alicia-keys\/chart\">Alicia Keys<\/a>\u2019\u00a0<em>Girl\u00a0<\/em><em>o<\/em><em>n<\/em><em>\u00a0Fire<\/em>\u00a0(Dec. 15) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/365068\/rihanna\/chart\">Rihanna<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Unapologetic<\/em>\u00a0(Dec. 8).\u00a0Until the latest triple, the chart\u00a0had\u00a0not housed three\u00a0<em>new<\/em>\u00a0No. 1s by women since\u00a0September\u00a02009, when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/431329\/whitney-houston\/chart\">Whitney Houston<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>I Look to You<\/em>\u00a0(Sept. 19)\u00a0followed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/299505\/colbie-caillat\/chart\">Colbie Caillat<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Breakthrough<\/em>\u00a0(Sept. 12) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/364742\/reba-mcentire\/chart\">Reba<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Keep On Loving You\u00a0<\/em>(Sept. 5). (All three titles were spending their first week at No. 1, and all debuted atop the tally.)<\/p>\n<p>Lorde leads a jam-packed top 10, as six albums debut in the region &#8212;\u00a0the most debuts in the top 10 in nearly eight months. The chart last had more bows in the top 10 on the Nov. 12, 2016-dated list, when seven\u00a0albums\u00a0debuted, led by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/306341\/lady-gaga\/chart\">Lady Gaga<\/a>\u2019s No. 1 launch with\u00a0<em>Joanne<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On the new Billboard 200, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/431852\/2-chainz\/chart\">2 Chainz<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Pretty Girls Like Trap Music<\/em>\u00a0starts at No. 2 with 106,000 units (57,000 in traditional album sales). The album collected the most on-demand audio streams for its songs among any album on the chart, with 46,000 SEA units (equating to 69.5 million streams for its tracks). The album earns 2 Chainz his fourth straight top 10 (in as many charting albums), following\u00a0<em>Collegrove<\/em>\u00a0(No. 4 in 2016),\u00a0<em>B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME<\/em>\u00a0(No. 3, 2013) and\u00a0<em>Based\u00a0<\/em><em>o<\/em><em>n<\/em><em>\u00a0a T.R.U. Story<\/em>\u00a0(No. 1, 2012).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/305702\/kendrick-lamar\/chart\">Kendrick Lamar<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0former three-week No. 1\u00a0<em>DAMN.<\/em>\u00a0moves 2-3 in its 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0chart week, with 70,000 units (up 1 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/304251\/jason-isbell\/chart\">Jason Isbell<\/a> claims his highest charting album, second top 10 effort and best sales week, as\u00a0<em>The Nashville Sound<\/em>\u00a0(with The 400 Unit) debuts at No. 4 with 54,000 units. Of that sum, 51,000 were in traditional album sales. That surpasses Isbell\u2019s previous sales high of 46,000, logged by\u00a0<em>Something More Than Free<\/em>\u00a0in its debut frame back in 2015.\u00a0<em>Something More Than Free<\/em>\u00a0was also his high-water mark on the chart until this week, as it debuted and peaked at No. 6.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/312256\/nickelback\/chart\">Nickelback<\/a> notches its seventh top 10 effort, as\u00a0<em>Feed the Machine\u00a0<\/em>bows at No. 5 with 47,000 units (43,000 in traditional album sales). The album is the band\u2019s first through BMG, after one album with Republic (2014\u2019s\u00a0<em>No Fixed Address<\/em>) and an earlier long run with Roadrunner Records.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/1490118\/drake\/chart\">Drake<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>More Life<\/em>\u00a0falls one rung to No. 6 with 42,000 units (up 3 percent) while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/276089\/ed-sheeran\/chart\">Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u00f7<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Divide<\/em>) also is down one spot to No. 7 with 38,000 units (down 8 percent).\u00a0The sets led the Billboard 200 for three and two weeks, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/5883339\/young-thug\/chart\">Young Thug<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Beautiful Thugger Girls<\/em>\u00a0debuts at No. 8 with 37,000 units, bolstered by 28,000 in SEA units. The album sold 7,000\u00a0copies and tallied\u00a0a little more than 1,000 TEA units. It\u2019s the third top 10 set for the rapper, after\u00a0<em>Jeffery<\/em>\u00a0(No. 8 in\u00a0April 2016) and\u00a0<em>Slime Season 3<\/em>\u00a0(No. 7 in\u00a0September\u00a02016).<\/p>\n<p>Alternative\/folk band <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/302217\/fleet-foxes\/chart\">Fleet Foxes<\/a> claims its second top 10 effort, as\u00a0<em>Crack-Up<\/em>\u00a0bows at No. 9 with 34,000 units (32,000 in traditional album sales). It\u2019s the first release for the act in nearly six years,\u00a0since\u00a0<em>Helplessness Blues<\/em>,\u00a0which debuted and peaked at No. 4 in May of 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the new top 10 is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/298455\/bruno-mars\/chart\">Bruno Mars<\/a>\u2019\u00a0<em>24K Magic<\/em>, descending two slots to No. 10.
