The set &#8212; which was released Sept. 22 through Island Records &#8212; debuts atop the chart with 118,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 28, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 111,000 were in traditional album sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Oct. 14-dated chart (where\u00a0<em>Wonderful Wonderful<\/em>debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites on Tuesday (Oct. 3).<\/p>\n<p>The Killers\u2019 previous studio album,\u00a0<em>Battle Born<\/em>, launched at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 copies sold in 2012 (before the chart transitioned from a pure sales ranking to a consumption based chart in late 2014).<\/p>\n<p>In total, the group has claimed eight chart entries, with five of those reaching the top 10. The band\u2019s debut studio release,\u00a0<em>Hot Fuss<\/em>, arrived in July of 2004 and eventually peaked at No. 7 in May of 2005, as the album\u2019s hit single \u201cMr. Brightside\u201d was rising up the Billboard Hot 100 (on its way to an eventual peak of No. 10 in June of that year). The group again visited the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with its sophomore set,\u00a0<em>Sam\u2019s Town<\/em>\u00a0(No. 2 in 2006), third album\u00a0<em>Day &amp; Age<\/em>\u00a0(No. 6, 2008) and\u00a0<em>Battle Born<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wonderful Wonderful<\/em>\u00a0was led by the hit single \u201cThe Man,\u201d which has so far peaked at No. 2 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart. It\u2019s the act\u2019s second-highest charting song on the list, surpassed by its one No. 1 hit, \u201cWhen You Were Young,\u201d in 2006. The Killers have notched nine top 10 hits on the Alternative Songs chart, including a pair of No. 3-peaking titles with their introductory hit \u201cSomebody Told Me,\u201d and its follow-up, \u201cMr. Brightside,\u201d in 2004 and 2005, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wonderful Wonderful\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0debut benefits from\u00a0a concert\u00a0ticket\/album\u00a0bundle\u00a0sale\u00a0redemption promotion\u00a0in\u00a0association\u00a0with the act\u2019s 2018 U.S. tour. The album is the latest chart topper to profit from such an offer, following such No. 1s as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/276744\/lcd-soundsystem\/chart\">LCD Soundsystem<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>American Dream<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/279841\/arcade-fire\/chart\">Arcade Fire<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Everything Now<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/5794072\/the-chainsmokers\/chart\">The Chainsmokers<\/a>\u2019\u00a0<em>Memories\u2026 Do Not Open<\/em>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/305595\/katy-perry\/chart\">Katy Perry<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Witness<\/em>. (Ticket\/album bundle sale redemption offers have existed for years, employed by acts like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/310724\/michael-bubl\/chart\">Michael Bubl\u00e9<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/6143288\/shawn-mendes\/chart\">Shawn Mendes<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/305237\/josh-groban\/chart\">Josh Groban<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/280667\/barbra-streisand\/chart\">Barbra Streisand<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/430102\/tom-petty\/chart\">Tom Petty<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/308786\/madonna\/chart\">Madonna<\/a>, among many others.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Wonderful Wonderful<\/em>\u00a0is also the sixth rock album to lead the Billboard 200 in 2017, following Foo Fighters\u2019\u00a0<em>Concrete and Gold<\/em>, LCD Soundsystem\u2019s\u00a0<em>American Dream<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/297064\/brand-new\/chart\">Brand New<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Science Fiction<\/em>, Arcade Fire\u2019s\u00a0<em>Everything Now<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/307438\/linkin-park\/chart\">Linkin Park<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>One More Light<\/em>. (In all of 2016, there were 10 rock albums that led the list.)<\/p>\n<p>The Killers is also the latest act to score its first No. 1 album a decade after their debut on the list. Previously in 2017, LCD Soundsystem and Brand New hit the top of the list more than a decade after their chart debuts (April 2007 and July 2003, respectively).<\/p>\n<p>At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/1490130\/macklemore\/chart\">Macklemore<\/a>\u00a0debuts with his second solo album,\u00a0<em>GEMINI<\/em>, bowing with 51,000 units (27,000 in traditional album sales).\u00a0<em>GEMINI<\/em>\u00a0follows a pair of charting albums from the duo\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/1538156\/macklemore-ryan-lewis\/chart\">Macklemore &amp; Ryan Lewis<\/a>:\u00a0<em>This Unruly Mess I\u2019ve Made<\/em>\u00a0(No. 4 in 2016) and\u00a0<em>The Heist<\/em>\u00a0(No. 2 in 2012). Macklemore\u2019s first solo album, 2005\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Language of My World<\/em>, did not chart.<\/p>\n<p><em>GEMINI<\/em>\u00a0was ushered in by the single \u201cGlorious,\u201d featuring\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/279558\/skylar-grey\/chart\">Skylar Grey<\/a>, which has reached the top 20 of the Pop Songs airplay chart and also hit the Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/7340914\/lil-uzi-vert\/chart\">Lil Uzi Vert<\/a>\u2019s former No. 1,\u00a0<em>Luv is Rage 2<\/em>, slips from No. 2 to No. 3 in its fifth week on the Billboard 200 (45,000 units; down 9 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/5645437\/kevin-gates\/chart\">Kevin Gates<\/a>\u00a0scores his second top 10 effort, as\u00a0<em>By Any Means 2<\/em>\u00a0vaults from No. 100 to No. 4 in its second week (40,000 units; up 467 percent), after the album arrived on the list a week ago with one day of tracking activity from its Sept. 21 release. In the newest tracking frame, it sold 15,000 in traditional album sales (up 398 percent). Gates previously visited the top 10 with the No. 2-peaking\u00a0<em>Islah<\/em>\u00a0in 2016. (<em>By Any Means 2<\/em>&#8216;s 96-position leap is the biggest jump into the top 10 since Kelly Clarkson&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Piece by Piece<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6898330\/the-1975-no-1-album-billboard-200\">zoomed 120-6<\/a>\u00a0on the March 9, 2016-dated list &#8212; a 114 position rise.\u00a0<em>Piece by Piece<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6898330\/the-1975-no-1-album-billboard-200\">flew back into the top 10<\/a>\u00a0after Clarkson gave an emotional performance of the album&#8217;s title track on\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p>Singer\/songwriter\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/5800522\/jhene-aiko\/chart\">Jhen\u00e9\u00a0Aiko<\/a>\u00a0claims her third solo top 10 album with the debut of\u00a0<em>Trip<\/em>\u00a0at No. 5 on the new Billboard 200 (37,000 units; 10,000 in traditional album sales). The set is powered by streams, as the set collected 25,000 in SEA units (equaling 37.8 million on-demand audio streams of the album\u2019s songs during the tracking week). Aiko previously hit the top 10 with\u00a0<em>Souled Out<\/em>\u00a0(No. 3 in 2014) and\u00a0<em>Sail Out<\/em>\u00a0(No. 8 in 2013). In addition, the duo\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/7326740\/twenty88\/chart\">Twenty88<\/a>\u00a0(Aiko and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/281681\/big-sean\/chart\">Big Sean<\/a>) reached No. 5 in 2016 with its self-titled debut.<\/p>\n<p>Post Malone\u2019s\u00a0<em>Stoney<\/em>\u00a0rises 10-6 &#8212; matching its initial debut and peak position in Dec. 2016 &#8212; with 37,000 units (up 41 percent) as buzz around the rapper\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/hip-hop\/7974020\/post-malone-rockstar-hip-hop-star-hot-100\">continues to grow<\/a>. Imagine Dragons\u2019\u00a0<em>Evolve<\/em>\u00a0moves 8-7 with 36,000 units (up 29 percent) after the set was sale priced in the iTunes Store, and the album\u2019s latest single, \u201cThunder,\u201d impacts top 40 radio.
