It launches with 267,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Dec. 21, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 197,000 were in traditional album sales. Eminem is the first act to achieve eight consecutive chart entries that debuted at No. 1.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Jan. 3-dated chart (where\u00a0<em>Revival\u00a0<\/em>debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>&#8216;s websites\u00a0on Wednesday (Dec. 27).\u00a0<em>(The new chart is dated on a rare Wednesday date, instead of the usual Saturday, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8071011\/billboard-chart-magazine-dates-release-week-change\">Billboard is adjusting how it dates its\u00a0charts and magazine issues<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Revival<\/em>\u00a0was released on Dec. 15 through Web\/Shady\/Aftermath\/Interscope Records. The set is Eminem\u2019s first new studio album since 2013\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Marshall Mathers LP 2<\/em>, which debuted at No. 1 with 792,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. (The Billboard 200 did not transition to a units-based tally until the end of 2014.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Revival<\/em>\u00a0notches the third-largest week of 2017 among hip-hop albums, both in total units and album sales, trailing only the debuts of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/kendrick-lamar\/chart\">Kendrick Lamar<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>DAMN.<\/em>\u00a0(603,000 units; 353,000 album sales) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/drake\/chart\">Drake<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>More Life<\/em>\u00a0(505,000 units; 225,000 album sales).<\/p>\n<p>With his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8078653\/eminem-revival-makes-chart-history-with-eighth-consecutive-no-1-debut-on\">eighth No. 1<\/a>, Eminem is now tied with\u00a0Kenny\u00a0Chesney,\u00a0Madonna\u00a0and\u00a0U2\u00a0for the sixth-most leaders in the history of the chart. Ahead of them are\u00a0The Beatles\u00a0(with 19), JAY-Z (14),\u00a0Bruce Springsteen\u00a0and\u00a0Barbra Streisand\u00a0(each with 11),\u00a0Elvis Presley\u00a0(10), and\u00a0Garth Brooks\u00a0and\u00a0The Rolling Stones\u00a0(both with nine).<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the top 10 of the chart, rappers G-Eazy and Jeezy both bow in the top 10 with their newest efforts,\u00a0<em>The Beautiful &amp; Damned<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Pressure<\/em>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/taylor-swift\/chart\">Taylor Swift<\/a>\u2019s former leader,\u00a0<em>Reputation<\/em>, holds at No. 2 with 133,000 units (up 33 percent). Of that figure, 105,000 were in pure album sales. With one week left in Nielsen Music\u2019s 2017 tracking year,\u00a0<em>Reputation<\/em>has now sold 1.82 million copies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/g-eazy\/chart\">G-Eazy<\/a>\u00a0debuts at No. 3 with\u00a0<em>The Beautiful &amp; Damned<\/em>, marking his third top 10 in a row, and total. The album, which is his third full-length major label studio effort, enters with 122,000 units (68,000 in traditional album sales). He previously hit the top 10 with\u00a0<em>When It\u2019s Dark Out<\/em>\u00a0(No. 5 in 2015) and\u00a0<em>These Things Happen\u00a0<\/em>(No. 3 in 2014).<\/p>\n<p>G-Eazy\u2019s new album is currently enjoying a hit single with \u201cNo Limit,\u201d featuring\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/aap-rocky\/chart\">A$AP Rocky<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/cardi-b\/chart\">Cardi B<\/a>. The track reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Dec. 16, granting G-Eazy his second top 10, following \u201cMy, Myself &amp; I\u201d with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/bebe-rexha\/chart\">Bebe Rexha<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ed-sheeran\/chart\">Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u00f7\u00a0<\/em>(<em>Divide<\/em>) dips from No. 3 to No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 90,000 units (though it\u2019s up 29 percent), while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pentatonix\/chart\">Pentatonix<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>A Pentatonix Christmas<\/em>\u00a0shifts from No. 4 to No. 5 with 75,000 units (up 12 percent).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/jeezy\/chart\">Jeezy<\/a>\u00a0logs his ninth top 10 album with\u00a0<em>Pressure<\/em>, which debuts at No. 6 with 72,000 units (54,000 in traditional album sales). The rapper has yet to miss the top 10 with a charting album, stretching back to his debut on the list, 2005\u2019s\u00a0<em>Let\u2019s Get It: Thug Motivation 101<\/em>, which peaked at No. 2.
