Of that sum, 117,000 were in traditional album sales.\u00a0<em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0is the group\u2019s seventh full-length studio set and was released on Jan. 19 through Island Records.<\/p>\n<p>The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\">multi-metric consumption<\/a>, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new\u00a0Feb. 3-dated chart (where\u00a0<em>Mania\u00a0<\/em>opens at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard&#8217;s websites on Tuesday (Jan. 30).<\/p>\n<p><em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0is Fall Out Boy\u2019s fourth leader on the chart, and third consecutive studio effort to reach the top. The band previously hit No. 1 with its full-length studio titles\u00a0<em>American Beauty\/American Psycho<\/em>\u00a0(2015),\u00a0<em>Save Rock and Roll<\/em>\u00a0(2013) and\u00a0<em>Infinity on High<\/em>\u00a0(2007). Its only full-length studio efforts to miss the top were\u00a0<em>Folie a Deux<\/em>(peaking at No. 8 on the Jan. 3, 2009-dated chart),\u00a0<em>From Under the Cork Tree<\/em>\u00a0(No. 9 in 2005) and\u00a0<em>Take This to Your Grave<\/em>\u00a0(didn\u2019t reach the Billboard 200, but hit No. 17 on the Independent Albums chart in 2004).<\/p>\n<p><em>Mania<\/em>\u2019s opening frame is driven largely by traditional album sales, with 117,000 copies sold. The remainder of its equivalent album unit sum is comprised of TEA units (2,000) and SEA units (11,000).\u00a0<em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0actually did better than expected, as some industry forecasters\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/8095864\/fall-out-boy-mania-greatest-showman-billboard-200\">expected<\/a>\u00a0there to be a race between\u00a0<em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0and the soundtrack to\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman<\/em>, with some predicting both titles would finish the week with around 105,000 to 110,000 units.\u00a0<em>The Greatest Showman<\/em>, which previously spent two weeks at No. 1, holds at No. 2 for a second week\u00a0with 109,000 units &#8212; up 5 percent.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0performed particularly well with direct-to-consumer sales via Fall Out Boy\u2019s official web store, and with vinyl LP sales. For the latter format, the album sold 13,000 copies &#8212; the biggest week for a vinyl album since the Sept. 30, 2017-dated list, when The National\u2019s\u00a0<em>Sleep Well Beast<\/em>\u00a0bowed with 14,000 vinyl LPs.<\/p>\n<p>Fall Out Boy\u2019s last studio album,\u00a0<em>American Beauty\/American Psycho<\/em>, launched at No. 1 with 218,000 units, of which 192,000 were in traditional album sales.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mania<\/em>\u00a0was originally slated for release last September, but the band opted to push back the release until January, and ultimately\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/rock\/8095747\/fall-out-boy-mania-release-times-square-interview\">retooled the album<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The set has scored five hits on the Hot Rock Songs chart (through the most recently published tally, dated Jan. 27), including a trio of top 10s: the set\u2019s lead single \u201cYoung and Menace\u201d (No. 7), \u201cChampion\u201d (No. 10) and \u201cThe Last of the Real Ones\u201d (No. 5). On the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/alternative-songs\">Alternative Songs<\/a>\u00a0airplay chart, \u201cChampion\u201d peaked at No. 18 last September, marking the band\u2019s 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0hit. Meanwhile, on the most recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/pop-songs\">Pop Songs<\/a>airplay chart, \u201cHold Me Tight or Don\u2019t\u201d debuted at No. 38 &#8212; Fall Out Boy\u2019s first hit on the list from\u00a0<em>Mania<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>At No. 3 on the new Billboard 200,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/ed-sheeran\/chart\">Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u00f7<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Divide<\/em>) is steady with 47,000 units (down 1 percent).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/camila-cabello\/chart\">Camila Cabello<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>Camila<\/em>\u00a0album dips from No. 1 to No. 4 in its second week, with 43,000 units (down 64 percent).
