‘Despacito’ Ties for Second-Longest-Leading Hot 100 No. 1 of All Time & Cardi B Hits Top 10

With a 14th week at No. 1, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s smash, featuring Justin Bieber, also matches “Macarena” for the longest-reigning predominantly non-English language No. 1. Plus, “Wild Thoughts” crowns Radio Songs & Cardi B hits the Hot 100’s top 10.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, ties for the second-longest command in the 59-year history of the Billboard Hot 100, leading the list (dated Aug. 26) for a 14th week.

The track also equals the longest run at No. 1 for a primarily non-English language hit, tying the 14-week rule of Los Del Rio’s “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” in 1996. “Despacito” additionally matches the mark for the longest stay atop the Streaming Songs chart: also 14 weeks.

Beyond “Despacito,” Hot 100 runner-up “Wild Thoughts” by DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller takes over atop the Radio Songs chart and Bronx rapper and former cast member of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: New York Cardi Bbounds to the Hot 100’s top 10 with her debut hit, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves).”

As we do each Monday, let’s run down the top 10 of the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Aug. 15), as they do every Tuesday.

“Despacito” (released on Universal Music Latino / Raymond Braun / SchoolBoy / Def Jam / UMLE / Republic Records) becomes one of an elite nine singles to have led the Hot 100 for at least 14 weeks, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception. It logs the longest lead since Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!,” featuring Bruno Mars, reigned for 14 weeks in 2015. Only Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” has spent more time on top: 16 weeks in 1995-96.

The Longest-Leading Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s

Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Date Reached No. 1

16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, Dec. 2, 1995
14 (to date), “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, May 27, 2017
14, “Uptown Funk!,” Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, Jan. 17, 2015
14, “I Gotta Feeling,” The Black Eyed Peas, July 11, 2009
14, “We Belong Together,” Mariah Carey, June 4, 2005
14, “Candle in the Wind 1997″/”Something About the Way You Look Tonight,” Elton John, Oct. 11, 1997
14, “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix),” Los Del Rio, Aug. 3, 1996
14, “I’ll Make Love to You,” Boyz II Men, Aug. 27, 1994
14, “I Will Always Love You,” Whitney Houston, Nov. 28, 1992

“Despacito” extends its record rule on the Digital Song Sales chart to 15 weeks at No. 1, with 82,000 downloads sold (down 3 percent) in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen Music.

More “Despacito” domination: the track tops the Streaming Songs chart for a record-tying 14th week, with 49.4 million U.S. streams (down 1 percent) in the week ending Aug. 10. It matches the 14-week reign of Desiigner’s “Panda” in 2016. On Radio Songs, however, “Despacito” drops to No. 2 after five weeks on top with 134.6 million in all-format airplay audience (down 4 percent) in the week ending Aug. 13.

“Despacito” tallies a 28th week atop the Hot Latin Songs chart and extends its reign on the Songs of the Summer survey to 11 weeks, having led the latter list each week since its annual return after Memorial Day.

“Wild Thoughts” keeps at its No. 2 Hot 100 peak for a fifth week while crowning Radio Songs (135.1 million, up 6 percent). Rihanna achieves her record-extending 13th Radio Songs No. 1, upping her lead over Carey (11), dating to the chart’s 1990 origin, while Khaled and Tiller each celebrate their first leader on the list. “Thoughts” also leads the Hot R&B Songs chart for a sixth week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fifth frame.

Does “Thoughts” have a realistic chance of dethroning “Despacito” atop the Hot 100 as soon as next week? The latter’s lead is still significant, perhaps likely priming it to become the second single ever to reign for at least 15 weeks. Both songs decline by 2 percent in overall activity this week, while the percentage gap between the two remains unchanged from last week: “Despacito” is again up by 1.46-to-1 in chart points over “Thoughts.” Still, “Despacito” is down in all metrics, while “Thoughts,” as noted above, gains in airplay.

French Montana‘s “Unforgettable,” featuring Swae Lee, is steady at its No. 3 Hot 100 high. It retreats 4-5 on Streaming Songs, but with a 5 percent gain to 29.1 million; pushes 8-6 on Digital Song Sales (39,000, up 8 percent); and keeps at No. 11 on Radio Songs (80 million, down 1 percent.) The single adds a second week at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.

At Nos. 4, 5 and 6 on the Hot 100, three songs each hit new highs: Imagine Dragons‘ “Believer” rises 5-4, while ruling the Hot Rock Songs chart for a 23rd week. Charlie Puth scores his first top five Hot 100 hit as a lead artist, as “Attention” ascends 7-5. He spent 12 weeks at No. 1 in 2015 as featured on Wiz Khalifa‘s “See You Again” (which Puth co-wrote and co-produced). And, Shawn Mendes‘ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” bumps 8-6. As previously reported, “Back” becomes Mendes’ second No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay chart.

Bruno Mars‘ “That’s What I Like” drops 4-7 after topping the May 13-dated Hot 100. It departs the top five after 24 weeks in the region, having become one of only five singles to spend at least that much time in the top five. Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape of You” and The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” featuring Halsey, each lead with 27 total weeks in the top five, followed by “Uptown Funk!” and LeAnn Rimes’ “How Do I Live” (25 weeks each). Thus, thanks to “Funk” and “That’s What I Like,” Mars is the only artist with at least two songs to tally 24 or more weeks in the Hot 100’s top five.

Cardi B’s breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” reaches the Hot 100’s top 10, zooming 14-8 and making her the first female rapper to reach the bracket with a debut entry on the chart since Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX, reigned for seven weeks (and dominated Hot Rap Songs for 18 weeks) in 2014. “Yellow” is additionally the first rap top 10 by a female rapper unaccompanied by another artist since Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” slithered to No. 2 in 2014 (and ruled Hot Rap Songs for six weeks).

Meanwhile, “Yellow” makes the fastest flight to the Hot 100’s top 10 for a debut hit by a female soloist in a lead role since Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” which reached the region in four weeks in 2014 on its way to an eight-week run at No. 1.

Streaming accounts for nearly three-quarters of the Hot 100 points for “Yellow,” as it charges 6-2 on Streaming Songs (31.4 million, up 28 percent, good for the Hot 100’s top Streaming Gainer award for a second straight week). It also rises 20-15 on Digital Song Sales (23,000, up 8 percent) and roars onto Radio Songs at No. 36 (32 million, up 47 percent). On Hot Rap Songs, it hikes 5-2.

More color commentary: Cardi B’s hit is the ninth Hot 100 top 10 featuring the word “yellow” in its title. It’s the first since Wiz Khalifa’s two-toned “Black and Yellow” led in 2011. And, for the love of “money”: Thanks to the parenthetical “Money Moves” part of its title, the new top 10 is the 10th song to hit the bracket with the word “money” in its name, and first since Lil Wayne’s “Got Money,” featuring T-Pain, which paid a visit to No. 10 in 2008.

Sheeran’s “Shape” holds at No. 9 on the Hot 100, which it ruled for 12 weeks. The song spends its 31st week in the top 10 (encompassing its entire run, dating to its debut at No. 1 on the Jan. 28-dated chart) and moves to within a week of the record for the most weeks totaled in the top 10: “Closer” and “How Do I Live” each spent 32 weeks in the tier. (“Shape” ties “Uptown Funk!,” which tallied 31 top-10 weeks in 2014-15.)

Closing out the Hot 100’s top 10, DJ Khaled‘s “I’m the One,” featuring Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, falls 6-10, after leading the May 20-dated chart upon its debut.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ Returns to No. 1 on Billboard 200, Brett Eldredge Debuts at No. 2

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, notching its fourth total week atop the tally. Meanwhile, Brett Eldredge scores the week’s top debut, as his new self-titled album bows at a career-high No. 2.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 26-dated chart (where DAMN. returns to No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Lamar’s DAMN. climbs 2-1 on the latest Billboard 200, clocking a fourth nonconsecutive week at No. 1, and its first since the May 20-dated tally. The set earned just under 47,000 equivalent album units (down less than 1 percent) in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 11,000 were in traditional album sales. The bulk of DAMN.’s figure comes from SEA units — 31,000. (The album is the week’s most-streamed title on the Billboard 200, with 46.2 million on-demand audio streams generated by its songs.)

DAMN.’s four weeks at No. 1 is the most by an album since The Weeknd’s Starboyclaimed its fifth nonconsecutive frame on the Feb. 11-dated chart.

DAMN. was last No. 1 on the May 20 chart. The album’s 13-week break from No. 1 is the longest gap between weeks at the top in more than four years. The last album to step away from No. 1 for a longer amount of time was Mumford & Sons’ Babel, which returned to No. 1 — after 17 weeks — on March 2, 2013. (Babel rebounded to No. 1 that week after the set won the Grammy Award for album of the year.)

Notably, DAMN.’s sum at No. 1 — a little under 47,000 units — is the second lowest weekly total for a No. 1 album since the chart began raking by consumption units in late 2014. The only time the No. 1 album clocked a smaller total was on the Aug. 22, 2015-dated list, when the Descendants soundtrack bowed at No. 1 with 42,000 units.

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 is Brett Eldredge’s self-titled album, which bows in the runner-up slot with 45,000 units (36,000 in traditional album sales). It’s the highest charting album yet for the country singer, surpassing the No. 3 peak of his Illinois album in 2015. In total, his new album is his fourth charting effort; he also visited the list with the 2016 Christmas album Glow (peaking at No. 29) and his debut album Bring You Back (No. 11 in 2013).

Brett Eldredge is the fourth country album to debut at No. 2 in 2017, following Zac Brown Band’s Welcome Home (June 3), Chris Stapleton’s From A Room: Volume 1(May 27) and Brantley Gilbert’s The Devil Don’t Sleep (Feb. 18). So far, however, no country albums have hit No. 1 in 2017 (all those No. 2-debuting sets peaked in the runner-up slot). The last country album to be No. 1 was Jason Aldean’s They Don’t Know, when it bowed at No. 1 on the Oct. 1, 2016 chart. (It spent one week at No. 1.)

With 36,000 copies sold, Eldredge’s new album is also the top selling album of the week, and debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

DJ Khaled’s former No. 1 Grateful rises 4-3 (a little more than 31,000 units; down 8 percent) while Meek Mill’s Wins and Losses notches its third week in the top 10, falling 3-4 with 31,000 units (down 16 percent).

The Now 63 compilation album bows at No. 5 with 31,000 units (all from traditional album sales), bringing the long running Now series back to the top 10. Its previous set in the main, numbered series, Now 62, was its first to miss the top 10, as it debuted and peaked at No. 11 on the May 27-dated list (with a start of 35,000 units).

21 Savage’s Issa Album holds steady at No. 6 on the new Billboard 200 (a little more than 29,000 units; down 5 percent), while Ed Sheeran’s former No. 1 ÷ (Divide) rises 8-7 (29,000 units; down 4 percent).

Imagine Dragons’ Evolve moves 7-8 with 28,000 units (down 9 percent) while SZA’s Ctrl returns to the top 10, climbing 13-9 with 27,000 units (up 5 percent). The latter album is driven by its streams, as SEA units comprise 22,000 of its total for the week (up 8 percent). The album’s return to the top 10 (its first week in the region since its debut at No. 3 on July 1) comes one week after SZA earned her first top 40-charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the album’s “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott.

Rounding out the new top 10 on the Billboard 200 is Khalid’s American Teen, which also comes back to the top 10, stepping 11-10 (27,000 units; up 1 percent). Like Ctrl, Khalid’s album is powered by SEA units (22,000; up 6 percent) thanks to the continued popularity of the set’s songs like “Location.”

‘Despacito’ Tops Hot 100 for 13th Week, Sets New No. 1 Record on Digital Song Sales Chart

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s smash single, featuring Justin Bieber, also breaks the record for most weeks (14) at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, now owns the longest reign atop the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017, clocking a lucky 13th consecutive week at No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 19. The stretch surpasses the 12-week rule of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” in January through April.

“Despacito” also sets a second longevity mark this week, becoming the first song to record 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

As we do each Monday, let’s run down the top 10 of the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Aug. 8), as they do every Tuesday.

With its latest frame, “Despacito” (released on Universal Music Latino / Raymond Braun / SchoolBoy / Def Jam / UMLE / Republic Records), becomes one of just 11 songs to have topped the Hot 100 for at least 13 weeks, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception. No song has led longer since Mark Ronson‘s “Uptown Funk!,” featuring Bruno Mars, dominated for 14 weeks in 2015. That track and six others are second only to Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” which spent an unprecedented 16 weeks atop the chart in 1995-96.

Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Date Reached No. 1
16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, Dec. 2, 1995
13 (to date), “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber, May 27, 2017
13, “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy & Monica, June 6, 1998
13, “End of the Road,” Boyz II Men, Aug. 15, 1992

While “Despacito” is three weeks from equaling the all-time mark of “One Sweet Day,” it also moves within one week of tying the record for the most weeks at No. 1 by a primarily non-English language song.  As noted above, Los Del Rio’s “Macarena” controlled the chart for 14 weeks in 1996 thanks to the popularity of its Bayside Boys remix.

As “Despacito” continues to dominate, the song rewrites the No. 1 record on the Digital Song Sales chart with a 14th week atop the list since the chart’s arrival on Oct. 30, 2004. The song sells 84,000 downloads (down 17 percent) in the week ending August 3, according to Nielsen Music.

The 14th frame atop Digital Song Sales eclipses the previous chart record of 13 shared by three songs: Flo Rida’s “Low” feat. T-Pain (2007-2008), “Uptown Funk!” (2015) and The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” featuring Halsey (2016).

On the Streaming Songs chart, “Despacito” leads for a 13th week, with 49.8 million U.S. streams (down 6 percent) in the week ending August 3. The track again tops all three of the Hot 100’s main component charts, as it leads the all-format Radio Songs chart for a fifth week with 141 million in all-format airplay audience (down 1 percent) in the week ending August 6.

The “Despacito” triple crown of No. 1 ranks on Radio Songs, Digital Song Sales and Streaming Songs for a fifth week in a row is the longest consecutive stretch since “Closer” topped each list for six straight frames in October – November last year.

“Despacito” also captures a 27th week atop the Hot Latin Songs chart and extends its reign on the Songs of the Summer survey to 10 weeks, having led the latter list each week since its annual return just after Memorial Day.

DJ Khaled‘s “Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, keeps at its No. 2 Hot 100 perch. It remains at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (34.8 million, down 1 percent); ascends 3-2 on Radio Songs (128 million, up 9 percent); and slides 8-9 on Digital Song Sales (34,000, down 5 percent).

“Thoughts” crowns the Hot R&B Songs chart for a fifth week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fourth frame.

French Montana’s “Unforgettable,” featuring Swae Lee, steps 6-3 to a new Hot 100 high. The song surges 21-8 on Digital Song Sales (37,000, up 52 percent), while holding at No. 4 on Streaming Songs (27.7 million streams, up 3 percent) and powering 15-11 on Radio Songs (81 million, up 9 percent.)

“Unforgettable” also struts to No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart, becoming the first leader on the list for both Montana and Swae Lee as a soloist.

Back on the Hot 100, Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” retreats 3-4 after having previously reached No. 1 on the May 13-dated chart. Imagine Dragons‘ “Believer” rounds out the top five, while ruling the Hot Rock Songs chart for a 22nd week.

DJ Khaled’s “I’m The One,” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, dips 4-6, after having debuted at No. 1 on the May 20-dated chart. Charlie Puth’s “Attention” lifts 9-7 to a new peak, and becomes the singer-songwriter’s highest-charting Hot 100 hit as a lead artist, passing the No. 9 high of “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” featuring Selena Gomez, last October. (Puth featured on Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again,” a 12-week No. 1 hit in 2015.)

Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” maintains its No. 8 peak, while Sheeran’s “Shape” declines 7-9. Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” is steady at No. 10 after reaching No. 6 in April. “Back Road” extends its historic run on the Hot Country Songs chart with a record 26th week at the summit, further outpacing the previous 24-week milestone of Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” (2013-14).

Beyond the Hot 100’s top 10, Cardi B’s breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” zooms into the top 20 with a 28-14 leap and scores the chart’s Streaming Gainer award. Two more newcomers also celebrate career landmarks by reaching the Hot 100’s top 40 for the first time: Portugal, The Man, whose “Feel It Still” soars 55-34 and SZA with “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott, which climbs 46-37. Directly beneath the pair, Future claims the week’s highest debut on the Hot 100 with “You Da Baddest,” featuring Nicki Minaj, a No. 38 arrival.

Find out more Hot 100 news in the weekly “Hot 100 Chart Moves” column and by listening (and subscribing) to Billboard‘s Chart Beat Podcast and Pop Shop Podcast, all posting this week. Arcade Fire’s ‘Everything Now’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

Arcade Fire claims its third straight No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Everything Now arrives atop the tally. The album, which was released July 28 through Columbia Records, earned 100,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 3, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 94,000 were in traditional album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 19-dated chart (where Arcade Fire debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Arcade Fire previously led the chart with Reflektor in 2013 and The Suburbs in 2010 — both albums debuted at No. 1.

Everything Now is just the second rock album to lead the Billboard 200 in 2017, following Linkin Park’s One More Light (on the June 10-dated list).

Further, Arcade Fire is now the second rock band this decade with three No. 1s. Linkin Park also has three leaders in the 2010s (of its six total toppers). Three other groups and bands have also logged a three No. 1s in 2010s: pop vocal quintet-turned-quartet One Direction, with four; country trio Lady Antebellum, with three; country group Zac Brown Band, with three.

Everything Now’s sales start of 94,000 (the sixth largest sales week for a rock album in 2017) was aided by a concert ticket/album bundle sale redemption promotion with the act’s upcoming tour. Other albums that have benefited from such an offer this year include Linkin Park’s One More Light, The Chainsmokers’ Memories… Do Not Open and Katy Perry’s Witness.

Arcade Fire leads a very quiet chart, as Everything Now is the only debut within the top 25 of the chart. Comparatively, a week ago, there were eight debuts in the top 25, including five in the top 10.

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 is Kendrick Lamar’s former No. 1 DAMN., which climbs 5-2 with 47,000 units (though with a decline of 3 percent). Meek Mill’s Wins and Losses holds steady at No. 3 in its second frame, with 37,000 units (down 64 percent). DJ Khaled’s Grateful, which earlier spent two weeks atop the list, ascends 9-4 with 34,000 units (down 7 percent).

JAY-Z’s 4:44, which also led the tally for a pair of weeks, climbs 7-5 in its fourth week on the chart (33,000 units; down 27 percent). 21 Savage’s Issa Album rebounds back into the top 10, as the former No. 2-peaking set rises 12-6 with 31,000 units (down 7 percent). Issa Album, like many titles on the chart, ascends despite a decline in units (as the list is less competitive this week).

Imagine Dragons’ Evolve also climbs back into the top 10, as it vaults 15-7 with a little more than 30,000 units (up 5 percent). Ed Sheeran’s former No. 1 ÷ (Divide) additionally returns to the region, moving 14-8 with 30,000 units (down 2 percent). (Both Imagine Dragons and Sheeran — along with 21 Savage — jump back into the top 10 as a quartet of albums vacate the region. Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boytumbles from No. 2 to No. 12 in its second week, Linkin Park’s One More Light and Hybrid Theory fall 4-22 and 8-29, respectively; and Romeo Santos‘ Golden collapses 10-56 in its second frame.)

Rounding out the top 10 is the soundtrack to Descendants 2, which slips 6-9 in its second week (27,000 units; down 41 percent) and Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life, which falls from No. 1 to No. 10 in its second week (27,000 units; down 75 percent).

‘Despacito’ Ties for Longest-Leading Hot 100 No. 1 of 2017 With 12th Week on Top

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s collab, featuring Justin Bieber, also ties for the most weeks (13) spent atop the Digital Song Sales chart.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, matches the longest command of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017, logging a 12th week at No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 12. The song matches the 12-week reign of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” from January through April.

“Despacito” also equals the record for the most weeks (13) logged atop the Digital Song Sales charts.

Let’s run down the top 10 of the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. Charts will post to Billboard.com later on Aug. 2.

As reported earlier, the release of Billboard‘s Aug. 12-dated charts were delayed. A top-tier data provider encountered technical issues, initially preventing the delivery of its data to Nielsen Music (which provides the sales, streaming and airplay information for Billboard‘s charts). However, the provider was ultimately able to resolve the issue, and deliver the missing information to Nielsen Music. Billboard‘s charts were then completed using the data.

“Despacito” (released on Universal Music Latino / Raymond Braun / SchoolBoy / Def Jam / UMLE / Republic Records) becomes one of just 19 singles to have topped the Hot 100 for at least 12 weeks, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception. No song has led longer since Mark Ronson‘s “Uptown Funk!,” featuring Bruno Mars, reigned for 14 weeks in 2015; that single and six others are second only to Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men‘s “One Sweet Day,” which ruled for 16 weeks in 1995-96.

Among those 14-week leaders are Los Del Rio’s “Macarena,” which, in 1996, sparked by its Bayside Boys remix, set the record for the longest command by a primarily non-English language single, a mark that “Despacito” is now two weeks from tying.

“Despacito” dominates the Digital Song Sales chart for a record-tying 13th week, with 102,000 downloads sold (down 13 percent) in the week ending July 27, according to Nielsen Music; the remix with Bieber accounts for 77 percent of the song’s sales for a third consecutive week (in line with its breakdown in prior weeks). “Despacito” equals the 13-week Digital Song Sales reigns of The Chainsmokers‘ “Closer,” featuring Halsey (2016); “Uptown Funk!” (2015); and Flo Rida‘s “Low,” featuring T-Pain (2007-08).

Additionally, “Despacito” has sold more than 100,000 downloads in each of the last 12 weeks, marking the longest such streak since OMI’s “Cheerleader” broke the 100,000-sold barrier for 12 weeks in a row in 2015.

On the Streaming Songs chart, “Despacito” leads for a 12th week, with 52.9 million U.S. streams (down 8 percent) in the week ending July 27. The track tops all three of the Hot 100’s main component charts simultaneously for a fourth week, as it leads the all-format Radio Songs chart for a fourth frame with 142 million in all-format airplay audience (down 2 percent) in the week ending July 30. (Sheeran’s “Shape” last linked four weeks in a row at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales and Radio Songs simultaneously, in March and April.)

“Despacito” further makes it an even six months atop the Hot Latin Songs chart (26 weeks), while leading the Songs of the Summer survey for a ninth week, having led the latter list each week since it made its annual return just after Memorial Day.

DJ Khaled‘s “Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, keeps at its No. 2 Hot 100 high. It holds at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (35.3 million, down 1 percent); lifts 5-3 on Radio Songs (117 million, up 10 percent); and stays at No. 8 on Digital Song Sales (36,000, down 9 percent). “Thoughts” crowns the Hot R&B Songs chart for a fourth week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a third frame.

As for the gap in Hot 100 chart points between “Despacito” and “Wild Thoughts,” the former boasts a sizable 1.59-to-1 lead, although it’s down 8 percent in overall activity while the latter is essentially even week-over-week. (A week ago, “Despacito” held a 1.73-to-1 points advantage.)

Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” repeats at No. 3 on the Hot 100, after topping the May 13-dated chart. Notably, the song ties for fifth place for the longest stay ever in the top five, matching Chubby Checker‘s “The Twist,” the Hot 100’s all-time top title):

Most Weeks in Hot 100’s Top Five
Weeks, Title, Artist, Peak Date
27, “Shape of You,” Ed Sheeran, No. 1 (12 weeks), Jan. 28, 2017
27, “Closer,” The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey, No. 1 (12 weeks), Sept. 3, 2016
25, “Uptown Funk!,” Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, No. 1 (14 weeks), Jan. 17, 2015
25, “How Do I Live,” LeAnn Rimes, No. 2, Dec. 13, 1997
23, “That’s What I Like,” Bruno Mars, No. 1 (one week), May 13, 2017
23, “The Twist,” Chubby Checker, No. 1 (three weeks), Sept. 19, 1960

DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One,” featuring Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, holds at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after debuting atop the May 20-dated chart. It rules Hot Rap Songs for a 13th week.

Imagine Dragons‘ “Believer” becomes the first rock song to reach the Hot 100’s top five in 2017, rising 7-5. It holds at No. 6 on Radio Songs (106 million, up 5 percent) and climbs 11-7 on Digital Song Sales (41,000, on par with its prior-week total) and 15-14 on Streaming Songs (17.9 million, also essentially even). “Believer,” which rules the Hot Rock Songs chart for a 21st week, is the first rock track (defined as a title that has appeared on Hot Rock Songs) to hit the Hot 100’s top five since twenty one pilots’ No. 2 Hot 100 “Heathens” (Dec. 3, 2016).

French Montana‘s “Unforgettable,” featuring Swae Lee, drops to No. 6 from its No. 5 Hot 100 peak; Sheeran’s “Shape” slips 6-7; Shawn Mendes‘ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” is stationary at its No. 8 high; and Charlie Puth‘s “Attention” ascends 10-9, hitting a new peak, while becoming his second top 10 on Radio Songs (13-8; 95 million, up 22 percent, good for the Hot 100’s top Airplay Gainer award).

Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Sam Hunt‘s “Body Like a Back Road” retreats 9-10 after reaching No. 6. On the Hot Country Songs chart, “Back Road” rewrites history: it leads for a record-breaking 25th week, surpassing the rule of Florida Georgia Line‘s “Cruise” in 2012-13.

Beyond the Hot 100’s top 10, two songs by One Direction members hit new highs in the top 20: Liam Payne‘s “Strip That Down,” featuring Quavo, reaches the region (25-16) and Niall Horan‘s “Slow Hands” pushes 19-18. Meanwhile, 1D’s Louis Tomlinson logs the chart’s highest debut, as “Back to You,” featuring Bebe Rexhaand Digital Farm Animals, begins at No. 40. As the song is Tomlinson’s first top 40 hit, all five (current and former) members of One Direction have now earned top 40 Hot 100 hits.

Lana Del Rey Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Tyler, The Creator and Meek Mill Bow at Nos. 2 & 3

Plus, Linkin Park’s ‘One More Light’ leaps 17-4 and ‘Hybrid Theory’ bounds 27-8, and top 10 debuts for the ‘Descendants 2’ soundtrack and Romeo Santos.

Lana Del Rey scores her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Lust for Life bows atop the Aug. 12-dated tally. The set, which was released on July 21 through Polydor/Interscope Records, earned 107,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 27, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 80,000 were in traditional album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 12-dated chart (where Del Rey debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s websites later in the day on Aug. 2.

Following closely behind Del Rey are Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy and Meek Mill’s Wins and Losses, as they debut at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Flower Boy earned 106,000 units (with 70,000 in album sales), while Wins and Losses tallied 102,000 units (with 37,000 in album sales). Industry forecasters expected a close race among the three albums, with any of them potentially finishing on top. All three albums actually performed better than expected.

As earlier reported, the release of Billboard‘s Aug.

With the entire top three debuting titles, it’s only the second time in 2017 that the top three are all new arrivals. It previously happened on the Feb. 18-dated chart, when Migos’ Culture, Brantley Gilbert’s The Devil Don’t Sleep and Kehlani’s SweetSexySavage bowed at Nos. 1-3, respectively.

Further, this week marks the first time in 2017 where the top three albums are debuts that each earned more than 100,000 units. It last occurred on the Dec. 10, 2016-dated list, when Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct debuted at No. 1 with 291,000 units, followed by Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic at No. 2 (231,000) and Miranda Lambert’s The Weight of These Wings at No. 3 (133,000).

Del Rey previously led the list with her second full-length studio album, Ultraviolence, which premiered atop the chart in 2014. Overall, Lust for Life is Del Rey’s fifth top 10-charting album — the singer/songwriter also visited the region with her full-length debut, Born to Die (No. 2 in 2012), the Paradise EP (No. 10, 2012) and her previous studio set, Honeymoon (No. 2, 2015). Honeymoon launched with 116,000 units (of which 105,000 were in traditional album sales).

Lust for Life is the second No. 1 for Interscope Records in 2017, following Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., which ruled for three weeks in May.

As for Tyler, The Creator, Flower Boy is his highest charting album yet, and fourth top 10 set overall. It follows 2015’s Cherry Bomb (which debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 58,000 units – of which 51,000 were album sales), 2013’s Wolf (No. 3) and 2011’s Goblin (No. 5).

Meanwhile, Meek Mill’s latest effort lands the rapper his fourth top 10 album. He first hit the top 10 with Dreams and Nightmares (No. 2 in 2012) and followed with the chart-topping Dreams Worth More Than Money (2015) and last year’s DC4 (No. 3 debut and peak). The latter set started with 87,000 units (of which 45,000 were in traditional album sales).

Back on the new Billboard 200, Linkin Park’s One More Light, which debuted at No. 1 on the June 10-dated list, surges from No. 17 to No. 4 with 50,000 units (up 122 percent). The album sold 32,000 copies (up 76 percent). It’s the first of two Linkin Park albums in the top 10, as the band’s debut effort Hybrid Theory climbs from No. 27 to No. 8 with 41,000 units (up 177 percent) and 19,000 copies sold (up 141 percent). Both albums rise following the first full tracking week of activity after the death of the group’s singer Chester Bennington, on July 20.

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. falls out of the top three for the first time in its 15 weeks on the chart, as it slips from No. 2 to No. 5 with 48,000 units (down 13 percent).

The Descendants 2 soundtrack starts at No. 6 with 46,000 units (35,000 in traditional album sales). Descendants 2 is the companion album to the Disney Channel TV movie of the same name, which premiered on the network on July 21. The film and album follow the 2015 TV movie Descendants and its chart-topping soundtrack (42,000 units earned in its first week, of which 30,000 were in traditional album sales).

Descendants 2 is the 11th soundtrack to visit the top 10 in 2017 – including four titles that initially reached the region in 2016 or earlier (Suicide Squad: The Album, Trolls, Moana and Purple Rain). Comparatively, in all of 2016, there were six soundtracks that were in the top 10.

Descendants 2 was released on Walt Disney Records, and is Disney Music Group’s fourth top 10-charting soundtrack in 2017, following Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 (No. 4), the 2017 soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast (No. 3) and Moana (No. 2).

After two weeks atop the Billboard 200, JAY-Z’s 4:44 falls from No. 1 to No. 7 in its third week on the list, with 45,000 units (down 48 percent).

DJ Khaled’s Grateful, which spent two weeks atop the chart, falls 4-9 in its fifth week on the list, earning a little more than 36,000 units (down 15 percent).

Closing out the top 10 is the fifth and final debut in the region: Romeo Santos’ Golden, which launches at No. 10 with 36,000 units (26,000 in album sales). It’s the first album by a Latin artist to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200 in more than three years. Santana’s Corazon was the last Latin album by an artist to visit the top 10, as it spent one week in the region, debuting and peaking at No. 9 on the May 24, 2014-dated tally.

Golden is the third top 10 effort for Santos, after Formula: Vol. 2, which hit No. 4 in March of 2014; and Formula: Vol. 1, which reached No. 9 in 2011.

MUSIC: Listen to this Song “Numb” by Linkin Park

In memory of the amazing talent of Chester Bennington and condolences.

R.I.P. March 20, 1976 – July 20, 2017

“Numb” is a song by American rock band Linkin Park. It was released as the third single from their second studio album, Meteora (2003), and is the thirteenth and final track on the album. One of Linkin Park’s most well-known and critically acclaimed songs, “Numb” topped the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart for 12 weeks. The song spent six weeks at the top of the chart in 2003 and six weeks in 2004. The song also spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song was remixed as “Numb/Encore”, a collaboration between the band and rapper Jay-Z. It was a massive hit for both artists which was featured on the album Collision Course and earned them the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. “Numb” was ranked number 95 on Rhapsody’s list of the “Top 100 Tracks of the Decade”.

In January 2011, “Numb” was released in a Linkin Park DLC pack for Rock Band 3.
